Adding regions to the map?

Post by AllTheseFlavours »

So I've been looking on the Archonwiki pages on Empires modding, and I am rather confused when it comes to how to add regions. Is this at all possible to do via the editor, or do I have to edit game files or possibly do a combination of both?

I have tried to make new regions via the editor, but I do not understand how to give the region a unique ID, and unique properties etc.

My ultimate goal, although a rather distant one, is to create a completely custom map from scratch for a scenario.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's a tad difficult to add regions currently, this is doable, but for limited edit. You need to be in Border Mode, then Insert a region, then do a right click, and then do a left click, this will create a new segment. Once you have saved the region, you need to update the corresponding regions.csv (in the scenario folder) with the proper ID to this region (that you can find when you select it in the editor).

We are in the process of thinking (then doing :D ) a new solution to map making though. I would advise against trying to make a new map currently.

That's really exciting news! Any estimated release dates for that, or still in the conception phase?
