SUGGESTION: Fleeing Fleet

Post by Sasuga »

In Battlestar Galactica, both TV series, it's a fleet of ships on the run. There are other TV Shows and Games out there that have this theme as well.

I like that Battlestar Galactica Deadlock is the first war and all that, and I love the game in general. I feel it's well done, especially in it's current state. Not perfect, but no game is, but dang it's really good. I enjoy the campaign a lot right now, I'm planning on buying all of the DLC.

I was thinking, it would be a lot of fun to do the running fleet sort of thing for one of the DLCs. A Rogue-like DLC. A bit tower defense, like.. you're not going to win, but you can see how long you can survive.

Damage stays between battles, resources are scarce, and you have to manage food, water, pilots, civilians, and ammo. I can see it being difficult to "balance" this sort of campaign, as ships are destroyed so easily in Deadlock right now. So, it would basically be a different game with the Deadlock interface and turn style... The Deadlock engine, basically.

But yeah, basically you'd run around rounding up civilian ships at the start of the campaign, and protecting them, each ship adding resources to your fleet, such as food, water, fuel, ammo, crews, pilots, and civilians. Civilians can be converted into pilots and crew for your military ships. When ships take damage, they can lose crew. Vipers destroyed in battle become damaged vipers that on battles where you control the battlefield afterwards some percentage of them are restored (representing them being repaired with pieces of each other) and the pilots are gone, and need to be replaced from your pool of pilots, being replaced by civilians (or maybe crew)... and the pilots can then have various skill levels based on experience.

Each missile used, is used up. However, the fleet can do missions to salvage ammo from enemy ships, or rescue ships that are ammo ships, etc.

Ships and civilians can have moral, based on food and water supplies, and pilots might need to be rotated so they can rest, etc.

Basically, like I said, this would be a whole new game using the Deadlock engine and Battlestar Galactica theme. I would love to play it.

Anabasis is what you want. Its almost exactly the tv show theme of running away or ... well running back to the colonies.
