Red Storm Campaign Specialisation Bug

Post by terminator »

Playing without imported core, how is it possible to have the specialization Scrambling without having the specialization Magnetron Radar beforehand?

If I remember correctly the Scrambling specialization was not acquired right away during the beta.

Without imported core there are selected specs active for free as campaign preset, so it's fine. With core import you get those active in the core.

BTW, looking at the screenshot I was thinking that the "PAKFront" spec should be named differently for the Soviets maybe?

PAK is the German abbreviation for "AT gun" basically.

PAK is the German abbreviation for "AT gun" basically.
The Pakfront was a defensive military tactic developed by the German forces on the Eastern Front during the Second World War. It was named after the phonetic pronunciation of the acronym nomenclature for German towed anti-tank guns, PaK (PanzerabwehrKanone, "tank defense cannon"). The Soviets soon copied the tactic, and used it to great effect at the Battle of Kursk in July 1943.

I never doubted for a second that the Soviets copied a successful tactic.... but the naming sounded wrong. It still does.

Thanks for the clarification, seems to be an established military term. Now I wonder what the Soviets themselves would call it, but it's probably not worth the trouble researching. And it won't matter as I'm sure the spec's the same the German faction uses, so renaming would be impossible anyways.
Thanks again, Mr. T!

I think the naming convention is similar to 'flak' (FliegerAbwehrKanone?).
Even politicians get a lot of that nowadays.

On the Soviet side they specifically refined this for Kursk and created larger, overlapping AT-kill zones with various Pakfronts combined, plus fortified Inf with Arty and Tank support all dedicated to wear down armor.

Maybe there was some specific Ru term for this, but I don't know it.
