Replaying battle?

I'm sure this has been asked before (possibly even by me), but it would be great with a feature in which a battle (ongoing or concluded, SP or MP) could be replayed, turn by turn. Basically like a video created by the game out of a saved game. Possible? Interesting?

Well I am not pressing Pip hard for it. It is not something I can implement in scripts.

Ok, thanks, Richard, so I ask pip too: What's your view, pip, on this? Is this prioritised, or far down in the backlog?

I believe watching and passively reliving a battle as an observer and in the form of a video with flow and without interruptions would both be enjoyable (but sometimes painful: "aoch, what did I do there?") and above all educating (again: "aoch, what did I do there?"). If that can be shared also in file format, it would be beneficial for this FoG2 community. Then maybe even the more ambitious can add their own voice-over comments to the video.

Ah, I found some old requests too, from March 2019.

This sort of discussion is precisely why we need a replay feature, to analyze each other's games.

Yes, that would be great. Richard, is it possible?

It is on the wishlist but there are technical difficulties. Even if it was implemented, it wouldn't work for old games after a game update.
