Re: Tournament News and Diary . . .

Post by stockwellpete »

The tournament is now full and we have signed up a record 96 players for this season. My thanks to everyone who has mentioned the FOG2DL to other players and encouraged them to join. There are still some reserve places left, but even those are filling up quite quickly. I will put up the divisional line-up for Early Middle Ages later today and then the next job will be to allocate everyone their armies. I will put a separate post up about this but I would like them by the end of Friday so I can do that job over the weekend.

Divisional line-up for Early Middle Ages . . .

Post by stockwellpete »

Here is the divisional line-up for Early Middle Ages. Again some players will find themselves moving up to a higher division even if they finished mid-table last time. This is because the number of players returning from last season's higher divisions is a little bit lower than usual. One or two players have been fast-tracked an extra division as well because of this.

Division A

In biblical do you want the match results up individually or should we wait until both halves of the mirror match are done before we report it? If it's the latter, will this make any difference to the time control?

Thanks

Yes, report the results individually please. Some players will play simultaneously, others consecutively.

Instructions

This is the first season of a revamped Biblical section. The old divisions of ten players has been replaced by smaller six player divisions, where each player will play five historically themed “mirror matches” against the other players in their division.
Here are the five historical match-ups that will be used in Season 9 . . .

Egyptian 664-571BC v Kushite 727-656BC (Invasion of Lower Egypt 664BC)
Median 836-627BC v Skythian 750-551BC (Skythian invasion 653BC)
Greek 680-461BC v Lydian 687-551BC (Campaign 615BC)
Assyrian 681-609BC v Babylonian 626-539BC with Median allies (Fall of Assyria 613BC)
Indian 500BC-319AD v Persian 545-481BC (Persian invasion 518-516BC)

Please note: armies are 1200 points for this section.
Should games be set up as actual mirror matches, or as individual battles, first player 1 with army A vs player 2 with army B and then player 1 with army B vs player 2 with army A? The former will mean same map, but latter may mean more variety and fun, at the expense of possible unfairness when terrain is generated in the two different maps.

Pete,

In Biblical, how to determine which historical matchup to play against which opponent?

Yes, you have been entered into both of those two sections.

In Late Antiquity you are in Division F . . . viewtopic.php?f=501&t=101446 and I have sent a group message to everyone who has not yet submitted their armies (you are included in the message) asking them to make their four selections by the end of the day. So this is your priority right now.

In Biblical you are also in Division F . . . viewtopic.php?f=501&t=101390 and you do not have to submit any armies for this section as I will be providing a fixture list for everyone with historical match-ups. You don't need to do anything now regarding this section.
