Odoacer's Kingdom of Italy: army list?
Which army list would in your view best represent the forces of Odoacer between 476 and 493 AD? (I'm interested in the political situation immediately following the fall of the Roman west, basically this map but with Julius Nepos and the "Kingdom of Italy" instead of the Western Roman Empire.)

I think it is represented by the VLI_ROMAN 425-492 AD list.kronenblatt wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 2:10 pm Which army list would in your view best represent the forces of Odoacer between 476 and 493 AD? Thanks, Paul! That makes sense. And also as RBS pointed out in the other thread: maybe could be adjusted to include some more foederati and fewer Romans.Paul59 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 2:24 pmI think it is represented by the VLI_ROMAN 425-492 AD list.kronenblatt wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 2:10 pm Which army list would in your view best represent the forces of Odoacer between 476 and 493 AD? Have people asked about the different Germanic kingdoms too; Burgundians, Suebians, et al? I guess that's simpler with Germanic Foot or Horse Tribes.

Thus pretty much "Roman 425-492 AD" with "Germanic Foot Tribes 260-599 AD" allies.kronenblatt wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 2:45 pmThanks, Paul! That makes sense. I don't remember anyone discussing those armies before, but search for it using the forums search function, you never know what you might find. But I would guess that the Germanic lists you mentioned would be okay.kronenblatt wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 2:45 pmThanks, Paul! That makes sense. Actually, on second thoughts, you might find something in one of the campaigns. RBS and I often use a special ArmyList.txt for campaigns. I did one on Clovis for the Age of Belisarius DLC, it may have some a Burgundian and/or Suevi army list. I can't check myself at the moment.

Thanks for pointing me in that direction of campaigns, Paul! In Clovis I found [VE_BURGUNDIAN], [ALEMANNI], and [THURINGIAN]. So there are some gems hidden in there. Stilicho also had some.Paul59 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 3:30 pmI don't remember anyone discussing those armies before, but search for it using the forums search function, you never know what you might find. I guess in the end, it's a matter about creating a modded armylist of my own, combining vanilla army lists and making my own, with variations of the Germanic Foot Tribe and Germanic Horse Tribe.
Or apply combinations with and without allies could also work quite well, to get at least some unique armies.
Julius Nepos: Roman 425-492 AD
Odoacer: Roman 425-492 AD with Germanic Foot Tribes 260-599 AD allies
Zeno: Byzantine 493-550 AD
Germanic Horse Tribes 260-492 AD
Germanic Foot Tribes 260-599 AD
Germanic Horse Tribes 260-492 AD with Germanic Foot Tribes 260-599 AD allies
Germanic Foot Tribes 260-599 AD with Germanic Horse Tribes 260-492 AD allies
