I have just checked the Adamclisi scenario. To me it looks like all the Roman models wear Imperial Gallic helmets, which I believe is correct for the period, I can't see any Montefortino helmets at all.

Thank you for putting me right on the Gallic helmet Paul. I see now I had oversimplified the equipment progression, wrongly thinking the basic montefortino model evolved very little, until the Dacian wars brought about the invention of the Germanic type helmets with heavy cross strap reinforcing ( a proto-spangenhelm?). Kudos to the artists who crafted these virtual armies with so much detail.
