Please fix the update process
I purchased and downloaded PC2 direct from Matrix/Slitherine. Every time I update it takes over an hour (and I'm using an SSD).
I really enjoy the game. Please fix this so it installs and updates faster. Thanks.

I'm sure it is. I'm not using Steam--I didn't buy it through Steam, and don't want to use it for Steam.

Re: Please fix the update process
Not sure what you're referring to...
Re: Please fix the update process
I have emailed support about this. I didn't think to do that before, but I should have done that instead of the forum. I thought maybe others had experienced this same problem, but maybe not.
If I hear a solution from support I can post it here.

I figured as much, but I also thought it could be taken one of two ways.scorehouse wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 10:06 pm sorry i'm totally agreeing with you!!! every new update is like a puzzle. most patch's are a quick download and u r ready to play. this Fing game is a maize
I don't know all the technical details, but I have lots of Matrix/Slitherine games and none of them have had this issue with updating. I suspect that there's something different they're doing with the updater on PC2. I think it's a cumulative update, as it is a very large download. I think they should also have actual patches available, in addition to the installer.
I have contacted support. I am hoping they become aware of the problem and offer a solution.

Double post
Re: Please fix the update process
Well, I got a reply from support:
They say it can't be fixed...can't be changed... because it's the way the update(r) works. So...engineer it differently?
So, if you don't want to use Steam, then I guess you'll have to take over an hour to update with each patch, and that's after downloading the huge file.
Ridiculous
Not helpful. It can take sometime to update. There can't be any fix tot his as it's the way the updated works that can't be changed. If you want faster updates better to install the game via Steam.

Re: Please fix the update process
It seems you don’t have a very fast internet connection...
Re: Please fix the update process
It's 100Mpbs. And that's not the issue. It doesn't take that long to download (though the Matrix servers are slow). The file is overly big for a "patch" IMO. The file is 3.8 GB. In my understanding it is cumulative, meaning that it contains all the files to install the game--not only the parts that are being "patched." So that may be why it takes so long to install.jeannot le lapin wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 7:40 pm It seems you don’t have a very fast internet connection...
It takes much longer to update the game than it takes to download the file. In fact, I can install Windows 10 much faster than I can update PC2!
