It's just my opinion, but I found really boring the symmetric-like "red vs. blue" scenarios.
I'm sure there must be many (or some) people that love them, but I really prefer much more a good old mirrored scenario with some historical flavor.
Just my two cents. Please tell yours.

Most historical scenarios will be broader in scop and size than the current tournie scenarios.
They will probably have to run for more turns as well.
Players would then have to be prepared to invest more time playing these.
I think 1 turn pr day should be a minimum turnaround to make this work.
There are a few smaller scenarios I know of that could work in this setting (Leros-cough...)

Actually, I was thinking about playing many of Erik scenarios, instead of the symmetric ones...
(Erik, the one who, ungratefully, has seen one of his best officers poisoned in one scenario before entering battle. He deserved a better fate)

But 50 turns....Is that at all possible in one week? And since it is completely symmetric (with units as well) maybe there could have been just one match? Sorry, I don't mean to sound ungrateful. I am really enjoying this tourney. Thanks for setting this up!

There' only one scenario that is symmetric to my knowledge, Two Bridges.
In addition to a symmetrical map you need two factions that have identical unit types as well.
I doubt people would be able to play turns faster anyway. You can infish a single turn in two games iquite fast, it is the waiting between turns that take time.
During the first tournament a few years back we tried to set up players living in the approx same time-zone. That helped a bit.

My hope is to have tournaments of both "type" running concurrently at some point.
So smaller, faster turn-around maps like the current set but also some longer form maps in another set (with much longer round lengths too).
I think there's probably a market for both with some cross-over, but I don't want to mix them together.
FWIW, in my internal classifications:
Two Bridges is indeed a straight mirror match, and intentionally so
Sandstorm, Karjelan are "meeting engagement" type, with similar power to the forces but not a straight mirror
Peninsula and Wake are Invasion/AttackVsDefence that have a distinct Attacker and Defender

My main concern about symmetric maps (like Two Bridges) in tournaments is that it is boring to play two very similar games simultaneously against the same opponent. Would it make sense to play simultaneous tournament games against different opponents?
