Warndt Forest
how do you keep from running out of prestige to resupply? battle is frustrating the hell out of me?
Re: Warndt Forest
How much prestige did you have at the start of the scenario?
My advice: as the briefing states, this is a forest map, so do not bring many tanks with you on this one. I had my 2 strongest tank units and 2 recon, I didn't need more vehicles. Take lots of infantry, about 4 artillery if you can afford it (I had them from importing my SCW core), 2 anti-tank and fill the rest with planes and anti-air.
I think the thing with this scenario is that the large French counter offensive starts relatively soon (halfway through the scenario). You do not want to be caught out in the open when that happens. I had my units positioned on the northern bank of the first river that you come across from the south end of the map. It has some raised terrain too, which will help your infantry defending those positions. Reinforce the points where the enemy strikes hardest with artillery and anti-tank. That way you should not suffer crazy losses.
Also, if you are having trouble here, forget about that bonus objective that has you raid the French settlement. I'm not a l33t player myself and I just skipped on that one. If you are fighting all the way to the south of the map when all those French come, you will suffer losses, be behind the river and defend there.
I hope this helps a bit.

Go slow. Stick together. Form 2 groups.1 large to go south west, 1 medium to go south.
Suppression aircraft, and 15cm guns will win the round. Use the guns behind a triple of infantry
Overstrength IIC/verdeja with 2xattack hero wins the war.
Dont chase stuff unless you can kill it. It'll come to you.

Re: Warndt Forest
I mentioned this in another thread, but this scenario is an interesting case of balancing out side objectives. Meeting the main ones is quite doable as long as you go slow as was said here. The bonus one is the tricky part as it requires speed and the risk of fighting the counterattack in a place you really do not want to. The interesting thing is, while those commendation points give a really nice award later on, it is not really something as insane to jsutify the risk if you're not feeling like you will make it. It seems that the worst enemy in this scenario, at least for me, was the self-imposed pressure I felt to meet the bonus objective. Afterwards, seeing the later rewards I became more relaxed, since it clearly occured to me they are indeed not critical.
AA and AT seem to be possible to ignore entirely here (I could maybe take one 88 AA gun to fill both roles). The French airforce gets shot down quite quickly and the terrain makes things hard for enemy tanks anyway (aside from the last push for bonus objectives), but then you might just use Stukas anyway. This could free up core for one more artillery that seems to be the key to this scenario.

Re: Warndt Forest
i overstrenthed 2 Stukas, then added double attack heroes. captured the French Town at the bottom and held off the counter attacks. still burned a bunch of points....dammit
Re: Warndt Forest
Yah, same here. If you are struggling with this scenario, don't feel bad about letting that one bonus objective go. Missing it doesn't mean much at all.
Re: Warndt Forest
I took no tanks, no anti tanks and no scouts. Only pioneers, 15cm artillery, one 88 flak and a cheap one slot flak. 2BF Fighers and 4 cheap 2 slot fighter bombers. So the french air force is killed fast and that saves you lots of prestige. Pioneers dont need anti tank to be a menace for tanks, als long as they operate in wood and hills.
Maybe you dont need the anti air units and take grenadiers to protect your flanks. That was my only vulnarability: i had not enough ground troops to create a line without breakthrough possibilities. But the ai was too stupid, to use its charles b to flank me. Instead it waited forever in front of the city, that was properly defended. But i ignored the bonus, because it seemed crazy, to go into the offensive against an enenmy that has more and better troops. Maybe you need a tank with good heroes for it.

Anyone else having a problem where after winning the Warndt scenario with the minimum objectives, hit the continue button on the victory screen and it will not advance you to the next mission, it just hangs there with music playing. Mouse pointer is active too, btw.

The version I have is the Field Marshall on Steam.

Re: Warndt Forest
I definitely noticed more than one player run out of prestige around this scenario. Forest fighting is definitely taking a heavy toll on people's prestige banks.
I'm considering upping the prestige here, or upping the prestige for the pre-made CORE (but not imported ones)
It sounds weird to say 'up the prestige' when there are also screenshots of people walking around with 40,000 prestige... but not everyone plays the same or even with the same ruleset because of the incredible amount of campaign customization features the game ships with. It kinda makes balance a bit of a nightmare.

I have heard that there is a problem lurking around with incomplete installationstycoon1969 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 7:47 pm Anyone else having a problem where after winning the Warndt scenario with the minimum objectives, hit the continue button on the victory screen and it will not advance you to the next mission, it just hangs there with music playing. I recommend you try the fix suggested in this forum:
viewtopic.php?f=582&t=101019#p875881
Or, because you are on Steam version, you might also try to 'verify game files' under Panzer Corps 2 game options.
Right click game in your library, select properties, local files tab, "verify integrity of game files'
To be exact.

Re: Warndt Forest
hey Kommandant Kerensky more prestige and a couple of additional core slots are always appreciated! Question about Von Bondt Hero. he's an AT and Artillery Support combo. should this type of hero go on a Tank, AT or Artillery unit to maximize production? same question about the 1.5 and 2.0 Rapid Fire? i've tried them on everything from fighters, Stuka's, ..... to Infantry, AA and Tanks. just don't feel like i'm getting the most benefit? thanks one and all for any input/insight
Re: Warndt Forest
I use them on fighters to get their experience up. Put them on a green unit, overstrength it and if will gain experience much faster.scorehouse wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 12:27 pm ... same question about the 1.5 and 2.0 Rapid Fire? i've tried them on everything from fighters, Stuka's, ..... to Infantry, AA and Tanks. just don't feel like i'm getting the most benefit? thanks one and all for any input/insight
Feel free to move your heroes around to get the best results.
For example at Ebro put 2x and Lethal on a overstrength Art [203mm] to clear out attacking Art and AA.
Put where they will do the most good in THAT scenario, don't put it one place and forget it.
Don't put them on units with 'machine gun' or 'quad gun' traits, they don't add.
Don't put on Wehr, will take too many losses, engineers in a close terrain scenario [Warsaw, Warndt] is good.
There comes a time on every project when it is time to shoot the engineer and ship the damn thing.
Re: Warndt Forest
I find the Von Brondt Hero works really well on a recon unit directly behind infantry.scorehouse wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 12:27 pm hey Kommandant Kerensky more prestige and a couple of additional core slots are always appreciated! don't understand how a recon unit can provide artillery and AT fire? what am i missing? thanks
Re: Warndt Forest
It can only provide it in support. It may be a game flaw with the Hero but it works effectively.scorehouse wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 4:21 pm don't understand how a recon unit can provide artillery and AT fire? what am i missing? thanks

Re: Warndt Forest
so if an infrantry unit attacks your infrantry unit, the recon provides artillery support?
Re: Warndt Forest
Yes, if it is directly adjacent to it. And even more effective than an artillery unit which is why I think it is a game flaw. I have put it on an anti-tank unit as well but I think because of the recon's rapid fire capability it is more effective there.scorehouse wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 4:41 pm so if an infrantry unit attacks your infrantry unit, the recon provides artillery support?

Re: Warndt Forest
Who's the Von Brondt Hero??? I do not recall seeing him. Is he a special hero that I somehow missed? Or just a random name that your standard hero in question was given?tpoo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 4:09 pmI find the Von Brondt Hero works really well on a recon unit directly behind infantry.scorehouse wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 12:27 pm hey Kommandant Kerensky more prestige and a couple of additional core slots are always appreciated!
