I've been thinking about the lack of a video clip to play on the Campaign selection screen for PotzBlitz.

You might like to know I did a YT clip 10 years ago for a visualization of a conceptual radio play called "Deutsche Krieger" ("German Warriors") by award-winning Austrian producer Andreas Ammer and FM Einheit former member of German independent band "Einstürzende Neubauten".
That radio play is divided into three segments: one about WW1, one about WW2 and one about the former leftist terror organization called "Rote Armee Fraktion".

You can see my interpretation of the first part about WW1 called "Kaiser Wilhelm Overdrive" here (narration mostly in old-style german, playtime 22mins):

Hello,
Thanx for help. I thought that might be the problem, but from the instruction it seemed to me there must be only one data folder (now there will be a copy also I think cos they have the same name-or shall I save the old data folder and two other data folder paste in it? Or just the contains of both data folder must be pasted into the original Data folder (than the conatins will be duplicated)?).
I also dont know where I can check the program version, but I installed it 2 days ago so I think it must be the latest one. Today evening I will try it again, I hope it will work, then we can play. I was anyway a rather good player I think, but there were 2-3 guys who seemed to know every step perfectly - and there weren't many other players :)
I have an additional question: Is there a way to turn off intro when I start game? It is very long and can't be skipped-a a little bit frustrating :)

@norbi: the mod works, I have not had a crash for weeks now, you have to install the main mod PLUS the upgrade to version 11.1. So actually you need to copy, paste and replace two folders into the data folder. Mod 10 includes most of the features, but the upgrade solves all the crashes olus adding additional features. Once both have been installed you must start a Brand-new game. It should work. And Potzblitz does not have an intro video. Before you upgrade both mods (10 and 11.1.) your Ctgw version needs to be 1.6.6. As well, if that's not the case you need to update this as well. Detailed explanation on page 1 of this forum. It's works and it's definitely worth it the mod is great. Let me know if you are looking for an opponent. I am also not a pro player so it might be a good match.

WOW, the video is a ticket to an altered state of consciousness :shock: This kind of works are also a hobby? With this material, I'm sure you can do a weird introduction video for Potzblitz mod :mrgreen:

1. unpack the folder called "Data" from the zip archive you just downloaded.
Copy it, then go to the game's main directory.

2. There MUST already be a folder called "Data" there or else you are not in the game's
main directory.

3. Overwrite the "Data" folder with the new one you just copied

4. Click yes if you are asked whether you want to overwrite the existing files.

5. do this procedure twice. Once for the main mod V10.0 and once for the update V11.1

Pressing ESC key should skip the intro.
You can also uncheck PLAY INTRO in the configuration screen.

I tried some turn-but like more wit h human-I played a lot with standard game :)

Till this I just tried accepting vanilla games but it crashes when I push "Play Game" button.

You can have 2 separate installations of the game, one for the basic game and one with the mod.

Just re-install the game to a different folder and use that installation for playing the basic game in single or multiplayer mode.

Thanks for reporting the crash, I'll update the opening post instructions.

Hi,

I have played about ten games with the new update and the game crashes half of the time at the middle of the game...how can I show you the problem ?

Also, when I play Entente I can't occupy Tarbiz after Ottoman Empire enters into the war and I tried several times.
Some events are very hard to trigger and even after many times to load again to make it, somtimes I can't, maybe something is going wrong whith the events :/

Otherwise, I don't have any problem to send Goeben and Breslau to Turkey :)

if the game crashes please provide the last savegame (autosave.endturn) before the crash or better yet the ctgw.log which is usually to be found in your Documents folder, so look in "My Documents\My Games\Commander The Great War".

NOTE: This log is overwritten every time you start the game. Please make a copy of the log after any crash/bug you want to report BEFORE reloading the game.

Put the ctgw.log and/or autosave.endturn files into a .zip archive and attach them to your post using the forum's "upload attachment" feature.
You can find the upload button in the bottom left corner of the reply box after you click on "full editor and preview".

Alternatively you can just copy/paste and post the last few lines of the "error" message at the end of the ctgw.log, usually this holds enough information to fix a bug.

In some "complex" cases the last savegame is required too for me to get the "bigger picture" of what is happening in your game.

You are not supposed to get access to all the events in every game. Sometimes conditions for events are very difficult to achieve and some stuff is just absolutely rare to happen.
It also heavily depends on what war plan was chosen by Germany.
Reloading is a waste of time because the outcome of most stuff is decided at the start of the game.

In the case of Tabriz Occupation: it is discarded when Turkey joins the war.

I have seen some events changing when I am loading again so I try sometimes.

About the event Tarbiz : it is written that if you plays it afterTurkey is at war, Persia will be for Entente slowly, that's why I was waiting to play it when I am them !

Attached to this post is a script fix.

It will deal with the crash which is caused by the AI having no friendly coast on which to land.

Apply this just like a normal update: copy it over the DATA folder in the game's main folder.

At last I found my error. I thought it was possible to send Goeben to Turkey without using "Kaiser's gold" event, but I was wrong, you must use it before. Moreover, according to V11.1 manual it has no sense the OPTION#1 of "Battlecruiser SMS Goeben", because:

a) If you haven't triggered "Kaiser's gold" event, Ottomans will close Dardanelles just when Goeben arrives.
b) If you have triggered "Kaiser's gold" event, Goeben will spawn in the Mediterranean without having to use "Battlecruiser SMS Goeben" OPTION#1.

No, you will have to play the Goeben event or no BC will appear.

Updated the manual.
The info concerning the event obviously was outdated. I wrote that manual several years ago and many things got changed since then. It is a hobby project and oversights happen.

Finally i am back in the UK to spent some more time on CTGW.

First of all, welcome to new players, i followed some interesting conversations here, the more players active in this forum the better.
Anyway, i am now open for a MP game. Anyone? Just create and send me private msg with PW, i will start to play as soon as i have the PW.
I dont care who to play with, you choose.

@robotron: Interesting video, that wilhelms overdrive YT one, with some unique footage i have never seen before. was interesting to watch, created a very dark athmosphere.
The idea of including the russian civil war is amazing, i am looking forward testing it once ready. Especially because i do not know much about it but you got me interested so i have been diving into some books recently. I actually was surprised how bloody and how ´influenced´ this civil war was from both entente and CP which is why i think its maybe ´das i-tüpfel´on the CTGW to finish it all off.
you say you have 30 events, thats a lot. so i ll wait and see what you have included before suggesting additional / nonsense / extra events that would disturb you from creating and finishing that add on asap. Pretty sure you will cover it all anyway

just one question: you talk about reds and whites, but are the greens also included? I know they were not really a major fraction, but they did play their role and could be included with few events as well. cant realy make suggestions yet, need to read a bit more first.

No plans to include the Greens at this point for the reason that the Reds will already be potentially attacked from all directions by the Whites/Entente expeditions/Poland/White Finland/Anarchist.

However, things are still very sketchy so they might fit in after all.
