Shards,
Is it the case that you're RP starved by that point, so you spend that RP on repairs?
It usually works out that way for me. But for some reason, this time, I was able to buy a beaufighter.
It really depends on how ferocious the Japanese opponent is.
If the Japanese take the first two towns in 4 turns (in the south) and get the extra CPs and RPs, the Brits are in a world of hurt for RPs from there out. Planes are not on the agenda in that case.

Heya, I was just thinking- what would happen to those people that were clearly winning, but their opponents stopped playing, and the allotted time expired before the players got their deserved 100 VP? This is a situation clearly different from a 'no show' of the opponent, which earns the BYE score.

As per the tournament rules below, it makes sense that the person that was winning and took less time to play, should earn the full 100 VP- the onus is on the opponent to keep playing their turns, and if they stop, that should not punish the winning player:

"If neither player has claimed victory before the time runs out, we adjust the scores based on how much time each player took to play their turns. The aim of this adjustment is to prevent stalling tactics where a player sees they are in a bad situation and stops playing and waits for the game to time out. Players who do this will get a points penalty and in extreme cases may be withdrawn from the tournament and dropped from the draw for the next round, so it is in the player's interest to play turns as quickly as possible.

Hello,
I would like to ask about rules for tournament - Im playing this tournament for the first time and I would like to know what I did wrong.
As I see on scoreboard, I lost ROUND 2. But... My opponent and I always played only 1 turn for 1 day - every day. I played in the day (every day) 1 turn, my opponent played in the night (every day) 1 turn. So we didnt finish match.... But Yesterday and today I saw scoreboard (before end of round 2) - And I had better score than my opponent. I did my last turn today in the morning and still winning. And now I see - My opponent wins... He got much more points.... I see I got some penalty points. I read rules, but I'm not still wise by the rules. Where i made a mistake please?

thanks

Everything must be used to repair ground units.
Interesting. I give 80RP, which is enough to buy a Hurricane or Beaufighter, but not enough for a Spitfire or Fairey Battle.

Is it the case that you're RP starved by that point, so you spend that RP on repairs?
Yep, starved and used the RPs for land unit repair. A fighter won't add much to prevent the Japanese capturing a VP...
So, easy choice.

Hi,

So both this, and 13obo's point above are the same thing really.

The settings we trialled out for this tournament was to target 10 turns of gameplay as the "min requirement" and for 60 points to be the Bye/Default points.

Sabotek, you've fallen into the unfortunate situation where you're only able to get 1 game per turn in with your opponent, but your geolocations meant that you ended up spending more time with the turn "waiting" for you. As such, the system judged you to be the culprit for the stall. I think that, for future tournaments, we'll change these settings so that someone in your situation will not be punished like this (it's definitely unfair). I'll also be looking to extend game round to 10 days rather than 7 and also to reduce the length of some of the maps (Peninsula really doesn't need to be 25 round for a tournament like this).

13obo, You're correct that 60 points isn't appropriate in this situation, but it is appropriate for the BYE score to be the same for default and for timeout, they should both represent a "good win". Going forward however, I'm going to be updating the maps to have less of a definite "winning score" (e.g.100). This should add more variety to the tournament table and also make it easier to set a more suitable "bye" score.

I'm having the same problem as Sabotek where the opponent I'm up against is like 12 hours ahead in time zone and we play about 1 turn a day and I always get the time out. Looks like like this needs to be adjusted for time zone differences, since no fun baby sitting your next turn when your opponent plays his at 3:00 in the morning.

Maybe extend each round duration to 2 weeks? 1 turn per day for a week is not enough for a game like that to complete.

Your opponent will be locked from the tournament and I genuinely hope you get a more active opponent in the next round.

I prefer a 10 day gameweek, means that tournaments last about a month rather than 6 weeks.

I'm honestly excited and a bit scared! The map is big with lots of resources, and you definitely need to be ready for anything. It's good that there are no ships at least - it'd be too much!

You're doing quite well too- wouldn't have thought to use "annihilate" to describe the games by a long shot! Will give feedback at the end of our games.
