Hello,
I would like to ask about rules for tournament - Im playing this tournament for the first time and I would like to know what I did wrong.
As I see on scoreboard, I lost ROUND 2. But... My opponent and I always played only 1 turn for 1 day - every day. I played in the day (every day) 1 turn, my opponent played in the night (every day) 1 turn. So we didnt finish match.... But Yesterday and today I saw scoreboard (before end of round 2) - And I had better score than my opponent. I did my last turn today in the morning and still winning. And now I see - My opponent wins... He got much more points.... I see I got some penalty points. I read rules, but I'm not still wise by the rules. Where i made a mistake please?
thanks
Sabotek
Hi,
So both this, and 13obo's point above are the same thing really.
The settings we trialled out for this tournament was to target 10 turns of gameplay as the "min requirement" and for 60 points to be the Bye/Default points.
Sabotek, you've fallen into the unfortunate situation where you're only able to get 1 game per turn in with your opponent, but your geolocations meant that you ended up spending more time with the turn "waiting" for you. As such, the system judged you to be the culprit for the stall. I think that, for future tournaments, we'll change these settings so that someone in your situation will not be punished like this (it's definitely unfair). I'll also be looking to extend game round to 10 days rather than 7 and also to reduce the length of some of the maps (Peninsula really doesn't need to be 25 round for a tournament like this).
13obo, You're correct that 60 points isn't appropriate in this situation, but it is appropriate for the BYE score to be the same for default and for timeout, they should both represent a "good win". Going forward however, I'm going to be updating the maps to have less of a definite "winning score" (e.g.100). This should add more variety to the tournament table and also make it easier to set a more suitable "bye" score.
