Hi Dave,

I received your list and it is OK.
I didn't receive so far the lists of the other UK players.

1 MU = 25 mm or 1 inch

So Dave's HF will be moving 1.2mm further than everybody elses then.

At least its not quite so important as 'the other rules'

For some reason I thought it was 40mm a MU I was reading about a comp in the USA with this last night and it stuck in my head. I was going round thinking my movement will be well out. But as Phill said in his post at 25mm a MU its not much differance and also Hammy's kindly allowing me to borrow his metric rods. BTW am looking forward to meeting and playing different players and hopefully lots of different armies as well. Look forward to seeing you next weekend.

Sorry Richard I almost forgot your brave try at opening the beer bottle late on Saturday night there should have been a prize for that.

I would also like to add a big thanks for the friendly and warm welcome we received from our French and Belgium brothers in games.

The games were most importantly lots of fun and I would like to thank my opponents, Carl, Jean, Luc, Nathan for putting up with my complete lack of french and Lionel for acting as my ad-hoc translator.

I particularly liked the provision of baguettes, alcohol and a meal together on the saturday night. I would highly recommend attending this event if you get a chance.

I would like to echo Conrad's and David's sentiments.
A big thank you to the organisers and all the players for the friendly welcome and hospitality shown by all at Nerviens club.

The games were friendly but competitive.

It was a good road trip from the Uk and I would also like to thank the others of the UK contigent Richard, Dave and Conrad for providing many laughs along the way. Richard for his excellent drunk navigation and trying to direct us to Paris at midnight on Saturday night. and Conrad for his Mustard phobia and Dave for his incredulity at there being no wolves of the sea armies !.

All in all a most enjoyable weekend and maybe next year we can get 2 car loads from the UK.

I must have deleted whilst you were replying, when I realised they were continental scores and why the number 1,000 confuses Europeans. I'd hoped to get it out before any one spotted it, so looking a little less foolish.

some stats...

Post by Lionelc62 »

Hi,

Some stats after the tournament :

54 Generals and 15 C-C were killed during the week end. 21 Bagages were plundered !
The best 'Generals killers and Bagages Plunderers' were :
1 Olivier Joucla (killed 5 generals and plundered 4 Bagages)
2 Earl Conrad
3 Olivier Dader
4 Jim Gibson

Dark Ages theme : It seems that the Byzantin armies were very strong in this theme especially if using the knights and Varangian. In the games I saw the varangian guard was often the key to the Byzantine victories.
The armies size ranged from 11 BG to 14 BG (Arab Conquest from Richard).

Antiquity theme
The armies size ranged from 11 BG (Olivier Neo Assyrian) to 16 BG (Martin's Later Achaemenid Persian ).

4 draws out of 21 games in 'dark ages theme'
17 draws out of 33 games in "Antiquity theme"
The game is clearly slower with Antiquity armies

Lionel
