Definitely need a "bounce back" chance for the japanese here. If you're overambitious on the the first landing and get shot up, then you're stuffed really. Which is fine in a general MP match, but not for a tournament.

Is that 100-0 because you drove them from the land?
Yup. I'm not too bothered by shortcomings in maps because after all we play as both sides. Of course if my score wasn't currently 400 points I might feel differently :P Assuming the final two games go as well for me as the first four, I'm officially in South Park "How do you kill that which has no life?" territory.

Yah I don't really care, more talking about incentive to keep playing after turn 10 if you "lost the island"

I guess the specific map is not fit for a Swiss-style tournament rules. Being driven from the island as Japanese is simply too penalising and almost impossible to recover from. The Japanese player should retain their score for grabbing villages, but the problem with having to play the remaining turns until the game finishes remains.

Yeah, but I have plans for how to fix this :)

ONE MEEEEEEELLLLLIOOOOONNN VP!!!

ahem....

Anyway, one thing that I didn't anticipate is that doing a Naval landing is actually quite new to a lot of players. In the original Order of Battle Pacific (and the Morning Sun and Marines expansion) you were doing naval landings left, right and centre, but a lot of players will now be people who've started/continued with the German and Russian campaigns, so I definitely need to be a bit more "caring" about how to direct them to do their landings for official maps like this :)

I thank an operation seelowe multiplayer map I played just a couple weeks back for being most educational on the subject. Stuff like using ports and beaches, supply ships etc definitely benefit from previous experience.

Heya, would it be possible to play your turns, so we can complete the game?

I am shocked. My opponent had landed a japanese unit directly on the west bridge and destroyed it.

Yep, that's the rules for the scenario.

The intro and objectives explain that the Japanese troops are considered to all be carrying explosives and just taking either bridge hex is enough.

Round 2 coming to an end today, it looks like most of the issues with scoring have been fixed by the 8.5.6 patch.

Apologies to MikeMerchant, I think you finished your game with Chema_cagi before the patch rolled out, so you're short at least 50-60 points? And I'm afraid that my database engineer is on holiday this week, so I can't get them points added retroactively.

Things I've learned about this map from people playing in this round. It's probably about 8-10 turns too long in it's current incarnation, you generally know who's won by Turn 13-15, so better to get it wrapped up. The Japanese reinforcements need to arrive more regularly, and the japanese player needs to be able to earn and keep points rather than losing them all if they're thrown back into the sea. I'm also thinking to bring the British Air reinforcements a bit earlier and also add one less Aux Infantry in the early British reinforcements. Maybe move that unit to a bit later.

I found that the British never have enough resource points left over to purchase an air unit.
Everything must be used to repair ground units.

Interesting. I give 80RP, which is enough to buy a Hurricane or Beaufighter, but not enough for a Spitfire or Fairey Battle.

Is it the case that you're RP starved by that point, so you spend that RP on repairs?
