Galland

Post by nexusno2000 »

AFAIK neither Leadership nor Aiming Assistance work on Air units. Don't think they used Adjacent the same way ground units do.

In the combat log, there is no Init bonus or accuracy bonus.

Kind of sad to had the first new "super"-hero, and for the most part, he doesn't work :shock:

Forgive my layman's understanding of the issue, but the heart of the matter seems to not actually be about Galland.

Any player at any time could get access to Leadership and Aim Assistance heroes. Completely regardless of Galland, these traits would not operate for any air units. :!:

So.... as with everything, the more complex and deep rooted the issue, the more time is needed to address it. That is the unfortunately reality we live in. I have the utmost faith that now that the issue is reported and identified, it's only a matter of time for this portion of Galland's traits to work as intended, as well as these traits working on all aircraft assigned heroes. :mrgreen:

Yes definitely not a SCW issue, but it brought it to the fore since Halland is plane only :P

The nail that sticks out gets the hammer.

As painful as all of these bug reports are... the fact is we missed them all despite all internal and BETA testing. Panzer Corps 2 is so much more complex than the original game... :oops:

The only true failure is if they are never resolved after being detected and having a great big spotlight thrust upon them. :idea:

Kerensky!...Yes!... this is a complicated Game.

You and the 'Team' are slowly ironing out the problem issues... that's absolutely terrific!.
It's going to take time, pain and anguish... but... increment, by increment... step by step... the issues will be resolved... one by one.

Then... anything else developed in the future... will be much less taxing to deal with.

In my 2nd or 3rd battle I got awarded a 'First Aid' here which is absolutely useless in an infantry-less campaign :)

It is useful in the AO campaign, just not the SCW DLC.
You can sell it For 1000 pp, or keep it for AO1939.
But it can be irritating.
There comes a time on every project when it is time to shoot the engineer and ship the damn thing.

If you still need beta testers for the next 1939 dlc, I have some time to spare in the next 2 weeks at least so would be happy to play through it if you are testing in that time period!

This is the second time I have arrived at Ebro scenario and I am not offered the Galland hero. The first time I played this map, it gave me the option to spend prestige on additional commendation points so that you could do so. Now...nothing...again! No word. I checked my save file from my first play through and this is indeed the map where he is supposed to become available...so what gives??

Not quite.

It is at Zaragoza/Gijon you can sink half your prestige into commendation points.

At Ebro, if you have less than 10 commendation pts, the option to buy Galland will not appear.

function Galland()

if (campaign.comm_points < 10) then return end
-- local message = string.format(difficult_choice, campaign.comm_points)
local message = string.format(tostring(difficult_choice), campaign.comm_points)
local choose_action = world:MakeChooseAction(0, message, "ProcessChoice")

local option1 =
{
title = NSLOCTEXT("scenario_BattleoftheEbro", "option1", "Authorize the exchange"),
tooltip = NSLOCTEXT("scenario_BattleoftheEbro", "option1_tooltip", "")
}
local option2 =
{
title = NSLOCTEXT("scenario_BattleoftheEbro", "option2", "Decline the exchange"),
tooltip = NSLOCTEXT("scenario_BattleoftheEbro", "option2_tooltip", "")
}
choose_action.options = {option1, option2}

world:Exec(choose_action)
end

end
I am still confused then...since there's no way to check how many I have, though I believe it to be less than ten. I have captured nearly all of the bonus victory conditions so I should have enough points. The first time if anything, I was less successful in capturing and collecting all of those extras that garner you commendation points. So how would have been able to acquire him the first time, but not now? That's really what's befuddling me.

Unless someone is saving up a ton of points, and by ton I mean ten, it's not possible to get Galland without the prestige sink from Gijon/Zaragosa.

Unfortunately the prestige sink event has a bug in it where it doesn't like dividing odd numbers. It's been fixed internally, but deployment is waiting for a patch.

The workaround is easy enough: the end of Brunete, if your prestige ends on an odd number, buy an OS Italian tank that costs an odd number to get yourself back on even footing.

Or people should be able to wait for the patch for the proper solution that doesn't require personal rejigging of anything.

I think I have discovered where the discrepancy is. You also are supposed to be given the option to buy commendation points after Gijon (the path that I took this time) but that did not happen. That would explain why I don't have enough now.

More glitches or weirdness occurring with this DLC. I still had to reload the game a couple of times to be offered the Pz II and the Verdeja II tank. These things are baffling why they are occurring...

Thanks for this, Kerensky. I did not see it until after I wrote my last post.

When I ran the numbers you could get the Verdeja, Galland and the last cache at Madrid w/o taking the prestige hit, assuming you cleared every bonus objective, so it's not that bad. Another way to look at it is that if you took the Verdeja and declined the sink you can't miss more than 2 Commendation Points or you won't get Galland.

FWIW I don't think it's worth taking the hit unless you failed to meet the bonus objectives along the way or your prestige is really low (well, technically the bug seems to give you the points anyway even if you don't lose any prestige, so if you're fine xploiting that...)
Mildly pretentious Swede. Goes by Path on most platforms, including Steam.

I can confirm that is true.

In my current campaign I decided that I wanted to not take the prestige cost, nor use the reserves to squirrel away 88s in Brunete. Ebro is too much of a potential prestige sink for me, and I don't have that much prestige generally. I probably should be more frugal with elite replacements.

When I planned it out, I estimated that by Ebro I would have 10CP available (+1 for Madrid), if I chose any 1 of the 4 options in the campaign leading to it while getting all but 1 on the bonus objectives. Since 2 of the options you are given are mostly redundant if you capture units, you really only need to decide between the Verdeja or the Panzer II.

By the time I got to Ebro, I had gotten every bonus except for Brunete (Seriously! How?), and I took only the Panzer II. After taking Galland, I have 2 left over (got an extra one somewhere), which will easily cover the final expense in Madrid as long as I get the first objective in Catalonia.

I was playing Madrid , and realised i hadnt got Galland.
I had 19 points at Ebro, and clicked to get the exchange, but nothing happened.
Had to go back, and redo Ebro to get the Gallandscript to fire correctly....
