So, we've gone through and manually updated the scores that looked wrong due to the bugs we found in the first round.

I've had to take a couple of educated guesses in places, but everyone should be close enough to the correct score.

I've followed the agreed procedure with 13obo (see upthread) and capped anyone who scored over 100 points to 100 points.

Round 2 starts today, good luck!

Exciting! Can't wait to meet my next opponent.

Thank you for all the effort in facilitating the tournament. Hopefully, future ones are even more active and run with less manual intervention

I had a feeling I'd get the ip address wrong. What with ipconfig generating, unhelpfully, at least 8 ip addressess... I assume that because I provided the wrong one hackers now have access to my bank account too. Sigh. Anyway logging in was okay the last couple times. If it happens again I"ll use the link you helpfully provided, thanks :)

You're joint first now ;-)
This sounds like an increase in responsibility and a greater expectation to actually know what I'm doing.

I think I need a forfeit button now. The japanese invasion is going totally as planned. The troops just forgot to show up.

You brought an aircraft carrier to a small scale naval landing with only enough CP for one aircraft? 😅

Hey kurios_slith- the games were good! Well played with that British block in the other game. I was getting desperate, but fortunately my landings worked.

I think Shards mentioned there's no forfeit button, so we have to keep playing to finish the game. Not sure what would happen if you stop playing , but looking at the rules, it sounds like you'd be better off if you continue playing even if losing:

"If neither player has claimed victory before the time runs out, we adjust the scores based on how much time each player took to play their turns. The aim of this adjustment is to prevent stalling tactics where a player sees they are in a bad situation and stops playing and waits for the game to time out. Players who do this will get a points penalty and in extreme cases may be withdrawn from the tournament and dropped from the draw for the next round, so it is in the player's interest to play turns as quickly as possible."

P.S. I love well defined rules.

As the Japanese, the way to get points is to capture flags. Even if the Brits have a full force they can't guard all of them.

Your best bet from here is to save your money and try some targeted landings

He has those engineers on a ship on the east side, but I had spotted them because I can scout from the shores.

Btw didn't the Brits used to win if they were able to drive the Japanese ground units from the island? Feels like the Brits should have a hard win condition too to avoid the necessity of playing until the end if they are winning.

Yeah, but it was so hard to actually get the triggers for that to work reliably that I was afraid it would given false victories, so I cut it.

Tbh, if the Brits own the island at T10, they've probably won. But I'd also like to find a way for the Japanese player to score minor points, even if they're eventually wiped out

I might promote and change the "capture villages" 2ndry objective to give a minor, but permanent points award for the Japanese player.

I see your point- in Two Bridges, a losing player still feels encouraged to play in order to gather points even if with one flag left. On this map, however, there seems to be a perception that "driven off the island as the Japanese" = defeat. So the player does not feel like there's an incentive to keep playing. Not sure minor points for capturing villages on the shores would help with that.

Btw I have occupied all of the villages, so he cannot even win a point from those unless he manages to gather a few more units. As far as I am aware, there are no more events for the Japanese, and he only gets 10 CP per turn, so that's also a lost cause.

Despite my boasting I knew a lot of my success in round one came down to luck, being matched against a player who didn't seem to have much experience. Round 2? My opponent this time bought... an aircraft carrier. Worth pointing out he's not the guy who posted either. So things are looking good for round two! ;)

Yah, I mean I can try and maybe by turn 20 take a singlepoint, but I didn't want to bore 13obo to tears playing the save up 100CP for a small landing party the game.

@13obo: Sorry about having a very boring 15 turns comming then!

(Also, I noticed I lost all victory points I gathered earlier when I was driven from the island. So any minor points I had I lost anyways somehow.)

This is why we have test tournaments, so muggins here can learn that players don't all play these maps the way he expected them to :D

First change, put two destroyers in the player's core at the start to discourage the bringing of carriers!!!

Can't believe you've rattled through your games already Karis!

Is that 100-0 because you drove them from the land?

No worries, and thank you for putting the effort to persist through! I guess this part would need some tinkering indeed.

Yeah, you lose the points gained from occupying some villages at the beginning if you are driven off.
