Imphal-Kohima Chindit Deployment Question

Hi,
LZs are defined but do they need to be taken by friendly ground forces before the Dakotas can land and deploy their troops please?

I was guessing Imphal '44 from Burma Road but, having taken a look at that, I don't think it's what you are asking about. Would you identify what campaign and scenario you are playing?
