I have a group of pioneers sitting in a nice and shiny SDKFZ 250/1. I want them to stay in their mount for the added protection, however, even when I manually mount them prior to movement, the automatically unmount.
I could do this in PZ1, what am I missing here?

You're not missing anything. As it stands a unit will automatically dismount if it has the movement to do so. There is no way to tell them to stay in the half tracks.LarkitsLaxen wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 11:21 pm I have a group of pioneers sitting in a nice and shiny SDKFZ 250/1. It was discussed in an older thread and was something that might get looked at. Ideally if we manually mount someone they should stay mounted.

Ok, thanks for the info! Too bad as it does take away some of the usefulness of the halftracks that IMHO are already too pricey to use.

Halftracks are valuable for the extreme bonuses to SA (although the extra HA doesn't hurt either) and the ability to move and deploy in terrain such as hills or forests, which isn't possible with trucks.
Unfortunately, merging units still forces them into mounted mode even if both detached units have enough movement points to be able to deploy on the hex, but I suppose that's a solution if you really want them to stay in their transports.

Mildly pretentious Swede. Goes by Path on most platforms, including Steam.

Re: How to disable automatic Un-mount?
Thanks for the tip, it has helped in some situations. My pioneers feel alot safer in in the field with 11 Hard Defence vs their regular 6 Soft!
Still hope that this issue could be fixed in the future. I am quite often find myself in situations where I would like to finish off enemy Artillery or suppressed enemy units, but my 2-movement infantry are 3 tiles away. (And the 1.5 Rapid Fire is a nice bonus, albeit with lower attack value),
I tried searching for the thread you mentioned, but I can't find it. Are the developers aware of the bug?

It was commented upon in the original beta, but no solution was found then.
