UNDO command and other FoG2 features in P&S

The scripts are taken from FoG2 with small changes. So the description is from FoG2 manual with a little addition:
The Undo order can be used to cancel the last move or turn. Only the last unit moved can have its last move Undone.
Undo is prevented in the following circumstances:
1) If the unit charges or shoots.
2) If the move resulted in the unit (or any unit in the group) seeing previously unseen enemy. This is to prevent Undo being used to scout.
3) If the move resulted in opening enemy fire (reaction shooting).
4) If a fall back move results in a cohesion test (whether passed or failed).

Installation:
The archive should be unzipped at ...\Documents\My Games\PSCAMP\CAMPAIGNS\(Scenario name)\. It is compatible with most scenarios, in which only one file is replaced - $DEFAULT.BSF.

Thank you very much for providing us with this very useful feature as a standalone.
It makes the game even better.
I've just tested it. it works fine (as always). I like it very much.

'Advanced patch' for P&S, which includes an immediate change in the battle score (without waiting for the opponent's turn) in addition to 'Undo command'. I also added a pop-up lettering 'Held Firm' above the unit that passes the cohesion test. The scripts are taken from FoG2.

Unfortunatly, this time I had to change CombatTools.BSF. But I already added 'Bayonet mod' in it, as this file modification is used in most user-made scenarios of the 18th and 19th centures. I also could not add FUNCTION DoAIMelee that lets AI do melees in order of decreasing chance of success.

Athos, interesting to see how many cohesion tests units pass during a battle, especially during a firefight. You do not see it in FoG2. Gunpowder age :)
And the melee phase without melees...

BTW, I added an option of finding the units which are in close combat and have 'Fight Melee' possibility through "Next Unmoved Unit" button. I do not know, why it is absent in FoG2.

maybe because it's easy to see in FoG2 which melees are still unresolved, thanks to the swords and orange/grey squares.

btw this fight melee order option is maybe the less realistic feature of FoG2 IMHO.
What I mean is : when you use it, you don't think to yourself "I feel like I am a general or a soldier of the period", but you ask yourself "What to do next to win the game as a player ?"
The P&S automatic solving based more on luck than on skill is not that bad imho.
Just my feeling :-)

Maybe :) I do not fully understand this feature in FoG2. I'm just used to using the "Next Unmoved Unit" button.

My thought exactly. Some of the more ""random"" features of P&S are the ones I like more, like units pursuing and post-victory charges.

Thank you Cronos09, for your continuing efforts to update and enhance this fantastic game.

I am sure that every regular player would agree that the immediate change in the battle score is a very welcome, and much needed, UI improvement. The Undo command has cleverly been made to work with the reactive gameplay mechanics, and I would certainly be pleased to have the opportunity to use it in MP games if my opponent agreed. However, I consider that the ability to resolve melees runs contrary to the essence of the P&S gameplay, and I will not be able to benefit from the other enhancements if they are bundled with that change.

I agree with Athos that the STUB engine gameplay, while giving players less direct control over their forces, provides a more realistic experience of generalship, and the chaotic business of attempting to control battles in this period. I suspect, given the vastly greater popularity of FoGII, this is very much a minority opinion, but I think that the computer determined order of melee combat is key to the charm of Pike & Shot and Sengoku Jidai.

You are welcome. All three links are independent and you can choose the one you wish. I put them in my first post for convenience.
Of course, if you would like to play a MP scenario with these options your opponent should paste them into this MP scenario on his computer.

IMHO, 'Fight Melee' option supplements the immediate change in the battle score. And it is more suitable for the MP game.
I try to count the percentage left until the end of an MP match. But when it remains to gain 10 percent or so, I often cannot forecast whether this turn will be the last or not. And the game ends suddenly during the Melee phase when my unfamiliar opponent loads the match. And I can't say goodbye and thank him for playing :(

I for one would tend to think that what makes the vastly greater popularity of FoG2, compared to P&S and SJ, has more to do with graphics than with game mechanics. Those of FoG2 are more realistic; those of P&S, while coming from historical drawings, are surprising, something ppl are not used to and ppl don't like the unknown.

It is just my opinion.

This mod also works very well for Single Player skirmishes :-)

Installation :
If you want to skirmish with Undo and e.g. Le Roi Soleil Campaign :
1) Copy 10LeRoiSoleil folder from ...\Pike & Shot Campaigns\Campaigns\ to ...\PSCAMP\CAMPAIGNS\

If you use Steam and the C disk, it will be :
- from : C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Pike & Shot Campaigns\Campaigns
- to : C:\Users\Users\Documents\My Games\PSCAMP\CAMPAIGNS\


2) Rename this forder, e.g. 10LeRoiSoleil_Undo

3) Open Text5.txt in 10LeRoiSoleil_Undo and replace :
IDS_CAMPAIGN_NAME, ''Le Roi Soleil’',
with e.g. :
IDS_CAMPAIGN_NAME, ''Le Roi Soleil Undo’',
and Save.

4) Copy/Past the files of the undo mod into the 10LeRoiSoleil_Undo folder, while respecting the folder tree structure :
- Add Text21.txt to the 10LeRoiSoleil_Undo folder
- Add the files of DATA\Battle\Scripts, DATA\Scripts and DATA\UI\Textures into the DATA folder of 10LeRoiSoleil_Undo

5) Run P&S, click on Skirmish and choose as Campaign : ‘’Le Roi Soleil Undo''

Thanks, Athos, for the detailed instruction.

If you wish to play MP matches with these features - add the letters, depending on what features you want to play with
U - only Undo option,
US - Undo and Immediate Score,
USF - Undo, Immediate Score and Fight Melee,
USP - Undo, Immediate Score and Push back,
USFP - Undo, Immediate Score, Fight Melee and Push back together,

Eg. You would like to play ECW with all these options.
1) Copy MPEnglishCivilWar folder from ...\Pike & Shot Campaigns\Multiplayer\ to ...\Documents\My Games\PSCAMP\MULTIPLAYER\
2) Rename this forder (add '_USF') MPEnglishCivilWar_USF
3) Open text1.txt in MPEnglishCivilWar_USF and replace :
IDS_CAMPAIGN_NAME, ''English Civil War",
with
IDS_CAMPAIGN_NAME, ''English Civil War USF",
and Save.
4) Copy/Past 'Fight Melee', 'Immediate Score' and 'Undo' mod(https://yadi.sk/d/usXxt-N8QZYutA) into the MPEnglishCivilWar_USF folder after unzipping it
- Add Text22.txt to the MPEnglishCivilWar_USF folder
- Add DATA\Battle, DATA\Scripts and DATA\UI into the DATA folder of the mod
5) Run P&S, click on Multiplayer,then New Challenge, then Create Skirmish and choose as Change Campaign... : ''English Civil War USF" for skirmish battles, or find ''English Civil War USF" section in the list Player vs Player for historical battles.

Your opponent should do these items in order to play a MP battle with you with these options.
