CeaW bug regarding convoys sent to Glasgow

Post by Peter Stauffenberg »

I was playing around with a solo game launching Sealion with the Germans. Then I noticed a bug that can impact the game for Britain.

Germany launched a Sealion in the north because the south was too well protected. The convoys kept sailing to Glasgow as intended since London was still British controlled. Then the Germans captured Glasgow while London was Allied. What happened now was that the convoys were still sailing for Glasgow and kept piling up near the Glasgow port without delivering the PP's.

Some convoys moved in such a way it got near Edinburgh (which was still British) and managed to deliver the PP's there. But most convoys just waited near Glasgow being sitting ducks for the Axis subs and air units.

I made sure the British recaptured Glasgow and suddenly the convoys could deliver their PP's to Glasgow and Britain finally got hundreds of PP's. Not being able to receive any convoys while being attacked by Sealion can be devastating for the British. It's not that unlikely to see the Germans landing in the north instead of the south.

The convoys transfer to Halifax once London is captured, but it seems nobody has thought about the situation when the main port Glasgow is captured by Germany before London.

Maybe the game could be changed so the code would send the convoys like this:
1) To Glasgow if London and Glasgow are both Allied
2) To Liverpool if London is Allied and Glasgow is Axis
3) To Cardiff if London is Allied and Glasgow and Liverpool are both Axis
4) To Halifax if London is Allied and all 3 of Glasgow, Liverpool and Cardiff are Axis
5) To Halifax if London is Axis

This way you would avoid the situation of having the convoys piling up on near a port they can't deliver to.

Another way could be to send the convoys to Halifax once Glasgow is Axis regardless of the status of London.
