Multiplayer issue in Tournament
Hi I'm trying to run my 2nd(I think) turn against Wakavengerf and I'm getting this data/script mismatch error. Any ideas what's causing it and what I can do?
Thanks,
Dave.
Thanks,
Dave.

Re: Multiplayer issue in Tournament
As it says, this generally happens if some of the game scripts are different. Have you been editing or otherwise tinkering with your installed files, rather than in local campaigns or mods?

Hi Pip,
Nope , not touched any files , that sort of stuff freaks me out. My opponent says he has been using different computers. Might that be it? We decided to carry on and the game seems to be playing ok.
thanks,
Dave.

Re: Multiplayer issue in Tournament
It's certainly nothing to be concerned about
If you don't see any more of the messages then it could be some oddness with his setup, but if it happens again then your opponent should do a reinstall to validate the files. Please keep us informed.

I've got the same kind of message with Wakavengerf too in our second round games. I didn't change or modify the script either.

Hi Melm,
We just carried on with the game and it seemed to work ok.

Did the messages continue after the first turn? We don't want anyone playing with altered scripts...

Yes it did, but I don't remember it happening every turn . Also , strangely, it only happened in one of the paired games, not at all in the other.

Are these both with the same user? Wakavengerf?

Yes they are...
Re: Multiplayer issue in Tournament
Hi, I'm playing a Tournament game against the same player, Wakavengerf, and have the same script / data error warning.

Re: Multiplayer issue in Tournament
Hi Pip,
Has this been resolved? I've paused playing turns since posting, as some weird things were happening as well:
- broken units attacking when no morale-boosting units were nearby
- consistently very high damage caused to my units and very low to opponent's, including the broken unit destroying two key units
- a few times my units were facing backwards and getting attacked in the rear, despite them having been travelling forward across the map in my previous turn
- refractor field on my unit seeming to activate less frequently than it should
I did a few tests with the same units in single player with the damage and refractor field issues and confirmed the multiplayer game is consistently way outside of the normal ranges.
The other game in the pair has been finished. I won that, but the file mismatch warning only came up on the very last turn. In the "problem game", the warnings started much earlier when the game was evenly balanced.
I'd appreciate a quick response, as I'm holding off taking my next turn. It could all be a coincidence, but that is a lot of coincidences in one game.
thanks.

Re: Multiplayer issue in Tournament
So these anomalies are in the game against Wakavengerf? We have contacted him but if people are seeing odd (and specifically oddly positive to the other player) results in games we may need to take quicker action. Thanks for letting us know.DaWarboss wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 12:55 pm Hi Pip,

Re: Multiplayer issue in Tournament
Hi Pip, yes, against Wakavengerf. Looking through the boards, it looks like I'm the fourth person to notice the file mismatch issue with the same player.
thanks again.
thanks again.
Re: Multiplayer issue in Tournament
Hi Pip,
I'm going to resign this game. I have no desire to play with the issues ongoing and all that delaying taking the turns is doing is losing more points. Please can you ensure that I am not drawn against this player again?
thanks

Re: Multiplayer issue in Tournament
Ah, apparently there isn't a resign option in tournament play. I'll just have to let it time out. It's just annoying that my points total suffers because someone else isn't running the correct script, repeatedly. I'm playing for enjoyment of the game rather than points, of course, but there is little enjoyment in carrying on with the constant suspicion that the playing field isn't level.

Re: Multiplayer issue in Tournament
I appreciate it is frustrating. We are reaching out to the player, or (as I say) we will take appropriate action. Hopefully this one game won't sour you on the tournament itself.
