Hmmm... The table says I have completed 7 matches, but I have completed 8 matches (I have only the match vs Macedonczyk going on), so one match must have been forgot to be reported by either. I'll check out tonight, and report the missing match result.

EDIT: Right, I checked from the challenge thread. The missing match is the one between me and sunnuboy. I lost that one soundly (4-0 win for sunnyboy) though I can't remember the exact score. Hopefully I have a screenshot of the end-screen (or the match is still in the ended matches tab), so I can post the result later today.

OK thanks. I have just checked this results thread and it has not been reported here - stockwellpete

DanZanzibar wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2020 11:10 am Pete - I don’t want to unnecessarily complicate things but the case of MadMaxBot also right now impacts (potentially) the top of the table. I wasn’t going to say anything, hoping he would finally play his last turn or two, but I have essentially beat him in EMA. I think it 58-30 or something close and he may lose just going into the turn he hasn’t touched in 5-6 days. It’s also over a month now since the match began (he’s clearly made a point of playing 1 turn every 4-7 days but that can keep it going for a long time). I’m not sure what you want to do.
It is as complicated and as close to the wire as it can be really, but the match is not actually finished until he makes his next move (unless he gets rallies and it continues even further) and you are not yet in a position to use the in-game facility to claim a stalled match where no move has been made for 7 days. So he had not completed 3 matches at the time I made the decision this morning to seek a replacement under Rule 6. In addition, it is obvious to me now that he is not likely to complete his matches in any section that he has entered so it is in the wider interest of the tournament that I remove him from Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages so that the players in his divisions get a full set of 9 matches as promised at the start of the season.
I’m fine with whatever you decide to do. I’m sure this is more frustrating to you than anyone else.

Can I challenge snooky51 in EMA or must I wait for confirmation he has accepted the posting?

Thanks for being so understanding. It is frustrating that some players cannot be a bit more considerate towards their opponents. Anyway, snooky51 is going to replace MadMaxbot in Early Middle Ages Division E. And the good news for me is that he fits exactly into the same place as MadMaxBot in my charts and result book. :D

You might have a problem doing that as he hasn't chosen a army yet. I will get this sorted out by the end of the day.

Division B

sunnyboy (Syracusan 550-461 BC with Kyrenean Greek 630-461 allies) beat Swuul (Spartan 550-461 BC with Corinthian 550-461 BC allies) 70-34

Reporting match which sunnyboy apparently forgot to report.

Division C

Swuul (Samnite 355-272 BC with Etruscan 330-280 BC allies) beat ahuyton (Greek 460-281 BC) 40-11

A map which had a large waterway to the left (seen from Samnite side) cutting off about a fifth of the map, and two large rough hills in the center (a very large on the left, and a pretty large one on right). Samnites were placed for a flanking move through the right hand hill, as the greeks had a couple nice defensive hills on their side of the rough hill, where I expected the hoplites to set up. Well, they did set up hoplites there, but the greek medium and light foot did attempt to occupy the leftern hill, so I had to change the plan on the run. The greek mediums and lights were of no match for the samnite medium foot, and the left hill was run over fast by the samnites. By the time contact was made on right (where I originally had expect most of the fighting happening) the battle was already in the mopping up phase.
Thank you for the game ahuyton!

Division D

grumpydaddy845 - Arab, Conquest 638-684 AD beat Bluefin - French 888-1049 AD 49% - 20%

The French were caught trying to sneak the majority of it's cavalry units through the forest that dominated their left flank. They never recovered.

It actually was closer than that at one point, but the chaos the French endured initially as they attempted to fight their way free from such a disadvantaged position really hindered their ability to win this one.

A good game, Bluefin and good luck going forward.

Division C

Swuul (Samnite 355-272 BC with Etruscan 330-280 BC allies) beat markwatson360 (Lysimachid 320-281 BC with Thracian, Hellenistic 350-281 BC allies) by opponent surrendering.

A rather flat map, with a couple low hills. On right hand side (seen from Samnite side) both sides deployed their cavalry. The samnites succeeded to get the upper hand vs the opponent lancers despite them being numerical superior (samnite light cavalry and skirmishers first disrupted lancers, who then charged a bit too boldly, and were then driven off by the samnites). On both flanks samnite impact infantry punched opponents, while the lysimachid pikes didn't have much success attacking uphill at the samnites. On turn 8 the lysimachids surrendered.

Division E

snooky51 - (Carthaginian, Hannibal in Italy, 216-203 BC with Samnite 355-272 BC allies) defeats Barrold713 (Carthaginian, Hannibal in Africa 202 BC with Numidian/Moorish 341-56 BC allies) -- 60-59

Parity between the two Hanniballian armies and a river parked dead center between both reduced the battle to a slugfest. Halfway through any resemblance of lines of battle dissipated as individual pockets of soldiers fought in ever diverse directions. Victory for Italian Hannibal came because he was one turn ahead of African Hannibal in charging units from behind and he had units rally where no one could re-route them.

(3-1)
