Billboard for those looking for MP opponents

Post by kronenblatt »

This thread serves the purpose of people announcing interest to play certain MP battles with other forumites, and is thus the place in which you post an interest in playing matches involving some specific situations or armies you wish to try out, or just want to play with another forumite. :).

(I know that challenges can be posted in-game and that PM's can be sent, but this would then constitute another communication channel aiming more generally (yet exclusively) at the people being active on this forum.)

Absolutely: thanks Devoncop! Have PM'd you, ideally a battle with some cavalry focus in order for me to learn, but maybe not horse-only army lists.

kronenblatt wrote: Mon Jul 13, 2020 2:11 pm Would it be ok and interesting for you guys and girls to have a (sticky?) thread in which people can announce interest to play certain MP battles with other forumites? (I know that challenges can be posted in-game and that PM's can be sent, but this would then constitute another communication channel aiming more generally (yet exclusively) at the people being active on this forum.)

Is there perhaps already such a thread? Or do you communicate through other channels? (I guess many of you know each other well already, but other people, such as myself, may be new and still want to play with people who are active on this forum.)

If interesting, this thread could then serve that purpose. Please me know what you think.

I've just created a challenge with Medium/1200FP mirror battles: pot luck army lists (for time period 200BC - 200AD) with pot luck terrain, and the army list pot luck came up with Thracian (Getae) versus Germanic Foot Tribes. So be it...

Password: 200BC200AD

Everybody is free to accept the challenge if you're interested. :)

Another option, is to simply create and post an open challenge on the server; that is what I normally do when looking for some games. I find these are usually picked up within a day or two.

I usually match up historical foes, or potential DL groups I want to practice with/against. Beware of poor pairings as they're less likely to attract opponents. You may want to include some notice if you're looking for practice/mentoring rather than just a straight fight.

Yep: I know. This thread would be limited in scope though: targeting those on the forum but still "open". But we'll see: maybe I will be the only one using it, and maybe not even I... :)

I think this could be a good place to arrange matches if players have some specific situations or armies they wish to try out.

You may get more luck joining the Discord server. People set up matches there. Matchmaking channel. Otherwise, they just set up games on the game server.

Have not experienced any lack of luck; I just want to limit scope of players compared to an open in-game challenge and expand it compared to a PM. :)

Hi folks.

I'm going to start looking at the Elamites for Faction Spotlight, a series on my YouTube channel where I investigate different armies in depth and send them against a range of different armies and army types. Elamites with Babylonian allies looks quite interesting, so I'll be starting with three mirrors there. Is anyone interested in a mirror match involving the following armies vs Elamite 815-539 BC with Babylonian 626-539 BC Allies?

vs Greek 680-461 BC
vs Achaemenid Persian 480-461 BC w Greek 680-461 Allies
vs Assyrian 681-609 w Median Allies.

I'd be interested in any one of the three, as long as I'm not voice recorded... ;) But for the sake of good order and to arrive at a suggestion, how about Greek 680-461 BC?

Uh... well, I do have to record the match. It wouldn't be much of a series without a video at the end to show for it. But no, I don't need to record your voice.

Sounds like a match. I'll set it up and PM the password.
