FPS Problems
i been playing the game but its pretty unplayable for me, i got lag and stuttering and lowering the graphics doesn't help, when scrolling i got lot of lag or stuttering, my specs are Ryzen 7 2700x 4.35ghz, 16gb ram DDR4 3200mhz, gpu RX 570 4gb. it's supposed to run at maximum at 60 fps, but i only get 30 fps when landscape tesselation is max, i play doom eternal at 60fps on ultra and even metro exodus at ultra at 45-60 depending on the most demanding areas but not lower than 40fps and even on extreme on 30-45 fps and i don't have any fps problems ,wich are titles that are way more demanding than PC2 so it's obvius there is something wrong. anyone knows how to fix this?

Re: FPS Problems
also i runned msi afterburner to monitore my hardware, at max graphics my gpu is using only 2670 mb, and the load of the gpu is 100% when the landscape tesselation is on.

Re: FPS Problems
Just so you know you're not being ignored .. but unfortunately I can't help.
I do the graphics on a much lower spec computer and have no problems, which won't be much consolation. Though anecdotally it seems that it's the better specced computers that appear to have the worst issues with heating and GPU performance. I don't understand why but hopefully someone who does could chime in. We have already been through several rounds of extra optimization that did cure some issues on some cards but its not where we want it to be yet.
I don't think anyone on the team uses AMD. From a personal perspective, I used to find they didn't play well with 3D software, and since that's essential for my job, I've always stuck to Intel and Nvidia. We usually rely on beta testers to provide a wider combination of ever changing hardware as its impossible to cover all the thousands of variations.
Comparing a top down game with an FPS isn't a great comparison. Yes an FPS looks like its doing a lot more and anything close to the camera looks like it has about the same resolution we do, but the degree of occlusion and render culling is much higher than our type of game where nothing is hidden by foreground geometry and lodding only occurs as you zoom the camera. We don't have a few high res objects close to the camera and then increased levels of lodding as terrain recedes into the distance .. everything on screen is ( almost ) at the same lod level at the same time. So geometry counts ( increased exponentially by the level of tesselation ) are overall much higher. Doesn't mean that there isn't more we can and will try to do.

Re: FPS Problems
thanks for the response, i tried the SCW dlc ( i own the Field Marshall edition) and it's seems to be a better perfomance than in the previous versions, i think the big problem here is the tesselation and geometry options im playing right now on low tesselation level and medium geometry and i get more stable fps wich is an improvement from last version wich i had to turn tesselation off and geometry to minimum, maybe it's something that it has to be with these two options, i play with every other options on maximum and it' almost doesn't mean any changes on fps other than lowering graphics increase fps but having them on max doesn't lower my fps so they're okay. i hope that in further patches the tesselation and geometry options get more optimizations to run more smoothly.

Lenovo Legion Y540 15.6" Full HD 60Hz Gaming Notebook Computer, Intel Core i7-9750H 2.6GHz, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, Windows 10 Home (2019 model)
What I noticed, is CPU gets loaded as crazy (only doing deep learning on CPU loads it as badly)- I have to use Thorttlestop app to undervolt it, thus keeping the working temp at 60-70'C, not reaching 95-100' dangerous levels.
GPU gets loaded to around 70% I guess. I am using Max/High quality settings.
Reg. FPS. I set the target to 120 (my monitor is 144hz, why not
Re: FPS Problems
I have an old computer I5 2500k, only 8 GB ram and win 1064. But even on this old pc the game works much, much better, since i use the 5700XT with 8GB ram. I had many maps where the game used OVER 7GB Vram, but my cpu was NEVER near 90%, mostly at 60%. So my impression: Graphic card with much vram is very important for that game. The question is how much better the game would run, with a top ryzen or top intel cpu and the 5700XT.
I am not very experienced with the ue4 engine, i did some tutorials for some time. One thing i realized quickly: how fast the performance drops, if you use MANY small objects. Flowers, trees, etc... or like in pc2 many little tanks, swamps, fields and soldiers. (all in high res of course) The UE4 engine is better suited for 3D action games then strategy games with many units. Hopefully the UE5 will change that.
