Newbie Questions -- Army Deseration Repl/Battle Fatigue

I'm not sure I understand how Units get replacements for deserters - do they get the replacements immediately once the money is avail.? Also, when taking combat lossesses/fatigue how do those losses/fatigue get replaced.

What side do you recommend for a beginner?

They heal normally when you have the resources, which might mean 75% loyal province for hits

If you have deserters, then it means you don't have enough manpower, metal or money in your stocks.

How do I fix the unit when I have deserters. Fix my money so I"m in the black & they'll come back?

Also when troops lose effectiveness (I think that's what it's called) from a battle, how do they regain that?

To replenish you need to have positive money, manpower and metal (if the unit needs that), then it automatically happen.
To recover hits you also need to be in a province with more than 75% loyalty.
If your at zero effectiveness a "forage the land" regional decision is also available from the Persia DLC, which give one effectiveness back.
