Division F
Blagrot - Samnite 355-272 BC with Italian Hill Tribe allies beat Morat - Roman 199-106 BC with Greek 227-146 BC allies 74%-41%
The Roman got off to a bad start when the Velites failed to outrun anything for a couple of turns but smashed most of the Samnite centre. One flanking move was held up (all game!) by some extremely stubborn Triarii who routed 2 units of Italian foot and fragmented another, fortunately for me the other flank did it's job and the still enaged Romans collapsed under mass flank charges. Thanks for the game

Division E
DanZanzibar (Dailami 928-1055 AD with Armenian 885-1045 AD allies) defeated Stew101 (Arab Conquest 638 - 684 AD) 62-52
Absolutely my favourite match of the season so far against a very dangerous opponent. I think we both found the match to be fun and constantly challenging. In the end, the one factor that may have tipped the balance was the superiority of numbers. It should be said, though, that in a match this tight, a few rolls of the dice can change the outcome very quickly.
Thanks again Stew! I look forward to facing off against you next time!

Division A
Questar17 - Ostrogoth 493-561 AD with Frankish 496-599 AD allies beat ConstantinIX - Byzantine 551-578 AD 49:17
Good game on quite narrow battlefield where flanking/ rear maneuvers happened mostly after chaotic pursuits of cavalry. and i was luckier with that...
thx for the game and see you again soon

harveylh – Arab, North Africa 789-999 AD with Andalusian 756-1049 AD allies defeats Schweetness101 - Andalusian 756-1049 AD, 63-43
A massive flanking attack by Arab cavalry and lancers eventually worked but with heavy losses. Meanwhile, the Andalusian veteran spear almost broke the Arab center but the weakening of their other flank allowed it to be turned and that was the difference. GG

phoyle3290 – Hunnic, Western 376-454 AD with Germanic Foot Tribes 260-599 AD allies defeats IMC - Ancient British 60 BC-80 AD with Roman 24 BC–196 AD allies - 44-19
The battle was pretty even for most of it until I was able to charge a cav unit into his flank sending two of his units running for the hills. The tide completely turned in my favor from there on out.
Thanks for the game!

Division E
rs2excelsior (Ptolemaic 55-30 BC) beat grumpydaddy845 (Samnite 355-272 BC with Campanian 420-281 BC allies) 60-54
A very close game right down to the end! The terrain was fairly good for the Samnites, with a stream dividing the two armies, and a hill with wooded areas on the Samnite side. Both sides started playing a bit cagey, with the Samnites lining the hills and the Ptolemaic forces staying put in the field on their side of the stream. Early moves were limited to Ptolemaic Xystophoroi trying to draw out the Samnite cavalry as the Samnites tried to get the Ptolemaic horse to overcommit, and fighting between the skirmishers which the Ptolemaic army largely got the better end of. The Samnites gamely advanced across the stream, and the Ptolemaic army, despite fears that the Samnites would simply turn about and draw them back over the stream, came to meet them.
What followed was a rather brutal straight-up fight. The Samnites were ferocious in the impact phase, disrupting at least one of my pikes on impact - although it did rally later on. My pikes and legionnaires - both imitation and the real thing - could generally hold their own (if they survived impact, in the pikes' case), but the thureophoroi suffered and pushbacks exposed my flanks. I responded as best I could with reserve units, and the frontline Ptolemaic forces buckled down and held on. In the end both infantry lines were shattered, with small, individual fights scattered about. I managed to set up several flank charges on Samnite units which barely pushed the enemy army over the edge. However, a few of my units were also in bad situations or threatened with flank charges themselves, and I honestly think if the game had gone another turn it might've tipped the other way.
The battlefield at the end: Good game to grumpydaddy, tense to the end and a well-deserved point despite the loss!
