Re: Larger armies right across the FOG2 Digital League?
I'd also like to see large battles for classical antiquity, because although medium size is fun they tend to feel more like large skirmishes than full battles. It looks like most people prefer a balance of sizes across eras though. Perhaps if classical antiquity was made large one of the others that are 1600 could be dropped back to 1200. Maybe just to mix things up.

Division A
Triarii - French 888-1049 AD with Viking 900-1049 AD allies beats Sennacherib - Arab Conquest 638-684 AD 61-49
A brutal competition where the French swung to the right and then back to the left to string out the Arab spearmen.
A brutal toe to toe then ensued between the tenacious Arab spears and Huscarls and dismounted Lancers until the Arab spears started breaking after what seemed like years (They are at it again in my game against harveylh but will win in that one).
After such a long resistance the game very nearly ended in a draw but the vital 60% was reached on the 24th French turn.
GG.

harveylh – Arab, North Africa 789-999 AD with Andalusian 756-1049 AD allies defeats Triarii - French 888-1049 AD with Viking 900-1049 AD allies, 47-21
The French surprised the Arabs with a rush at the beginning of the game through a rough terrain area 7 hexes wide in the center about equidistant between the armies. Considering the French only had one unit of MI this seemed reckless by Arabs. There was a clear path one square wide through the rough terrain. The rush of LI in the rough and an armored lancer that blasted through the clear path allowed the French to largely fight in open terrain where their armored huscarls had the advantage. However in the Arab center and right flank, their spearmen delayed the lancers and huscarls while on the left flank massed MI bow and several LI shot to pieces the French spearmen and lancers. The Arabs then started to roll up the French center. Fortunately for the Arabs, the game ended before their right flank collapsed or it would have been much closer. Good game and worthwhile gamble that almost worked by my opponent.

Challenge1 - Dacian 89-106 AD with Sarmatian 25-375 AD allies Drew with batesmotel - Bosporan 11-375 AD with Roman 24-196 AD allies 50 - 58
As the score implies it was a hard fought contest, the Bosporan's not being able to hold their early advantage but managing to hold out until nightfall after an unexpected Dacian fightback.
Good game, thank you!

Supervark Sassanid Persians With Hepthalite assistance drew against Rob123 with the Romans and Armenians 14%-24%
A confused battle spread out over a large flat map. The Persian Cav harried the Romans unmercifully and inflicted large casualties but not enough to get the win. The Persian infantry on the other hand sulked at the rear and never entered into the fight until it was too late. Cheers, Rob an enjoyable game.
