Should I restart grand campaign on a higher difficulty?

Post by GuanYouth »

Been playing through the grand campaign for the first time on general and breezing through it so far(haven't completed any campaigns on this difficulty yet). I have about 14k prestige banked turn one at stonne in 1941. I haven't had much trouble getting dv's every level so far except when I'm way overaggressive. I'm not sure how the difficulty amps up in the later years though or how much prestige I'm supposed to have saved up where I am in the campaign.

You could restart from eben emael on field marshal or rommel difficulty but difficulty will really start to increase progressively in 1942.. Prestige wise, for stonne you are doing good. You should reach 100k around 1942, at which stage you will get close to the 100% soft cap if you overstrength a bit too much.

Your prestige levels should increase until about Stalingrad. After that point, it will plateau due to the increasing casualties and the more expensive - yet very necessary - units. I would be cautious about increasing the difficulty level too much.

Maybe as some guidance/orientation... on average, it is relatively helpful to have around 20k prestige before the start of GC East 44 and another 20k for GC East 45 to savely reach Berlin... i.e. 40k at the end of 43... some need more, some need less of course...

My thinking is you can only play blind once through a campaign so I would just start 1941 at a more difficult level if you are looking for more of a challenge and back down if you find by the end of 1942 it has gotten to tough
