Division B
Nijis (Persians, 350-476 AD) defeats cromlechi (Romans, 379-424 AD) 54-26.
The clash of two mostly cavalry armies resulted in a scattered melee all over the field. The Persian horse archers, aided by their elephants, eventually got the better of the Roman infantry and lancers.

Division D
Swuul (British 600-1030 AD with Viking 780-899 AD allies) beat ggarynorman (Byzantine 963-987 AD) 63-33
A flat map with a couple rough patches and a small pond on the byzantine half of the map. Byzantines placed their excellent cavalry on the flanks, and their better infantry left of the pond, with most of the regular skutatoi and raw skutatoi on their right. British set up their cavalry on the left flank, brythonic foot ready to enter the rough patches plus on right flank ready to circumvent the byzantine line. Practically the same regular story as in most battles this season, the opponent hesitated in face of the british masses, which gave time for the british to get into the dogpile positions. The byzantine cavalry on flanks got checked by british cavalry and raw spearmen, center was dogpiled with human waves of spearmen and brythonic foot. The difference this time being that byzantine line left of the pond didn't fully crumble, and they caused many brits to run. But the main byzantine line right of the pond got swarmed to death, and that was all that was needed.
Thank you for the game ggarynorman.

Division A
harveylh - Thracian 680-461 BC with Greek 680-551 BC ally defeats ianiow - Kushite Egyptian 727-656 BC, 43-17
Terrain helped as a stream on one flank cut the battlemap by a quarter which was needed when you’re facing an army with 14 cavalry and 6 chariots. ianiow is using another scary army. I think I would rather fight the Arabs with all the camels.

Weekly round-up
Snugglebunnies (Roman) continues to lead Division A after posting his third win but the main challengers are grouping up behind him now including Ludendorf (Hannibal in Africa), Nosy_Rat (Indian) and dkalenda (Pontic), all of whom also have 100% records. Both Cunningcairn (Thracian) and harveylh (Ptolemaic) have had very difficult starts losing their opening 3 matches. There is a similar situation in Division B where the front runner edb1815 (Thracian) is being tracked by 3 unbeaten players namely nyczar (Spartan), Questar17 (Ptolemaic) and XLegione (Roman). Division C is going to be a very close contest and already every player has recorded at least one win. devoncop (Etruscan) is still on top ahead of ahuyton (Greek) but there are 3 or 4 other players who have made reasonable starts who could produce a challenge. Division D looks to be developing into a 2 horse race between elrawen (Macedonian) and SLancaster (Lysimachid) with both players being unbeaten in 5 matches. BishUK (Achaemenid) still leads Division E although kraff (Seleucid) has closed the gap a bit. A lot will depend on the form of Aetius39 (Macedonian) and baldrick52 (Indo-Parthian) in this division. Both players are yet to post a result. Tratmot (Hannibal in Africa) is the new leader in Division F, but he is being closely pursued by DanZanzibar (Carthaginian) who has won 4 of his 5 matches. Further down the table both Blagrot (Samnite) and Morat (Roman) have started with 2 wins from 3 matches and may be able to mount a challenge.
Unbeaten runs of 3 matches or more
Snugglebunnies (Division A) 3 matches
elrawen (Division D) 5 matches
SLancaster (Division D) 5 matches
DanZanzibar (Division F) 4 matches
Match completion rate (45 matches in total to be played in each division)
Division A - 12 out of 45 matches completed
Division B - 14 out of 45 matches completed
Division C - 20 out of 45 matches completed
Division D - 15 out of 45 matches completed
Division E - 12 out of 45 matches completed
Division F - 24 out of 45 matches completed
These are good match completion rates.
Player of the week

Weekly round-up
A fairly sedate start in Division A where ConstantinIX (Byzantine) is making the early running ahead of Nosy_Rat (Western Huns) and klayeckles (Sassanid). Questar17 (Ostrogoth) has also made a winning start. Nijis (Sassanid) has moved to the top of Division B with his third victory ahead of Cunningcairn (Arab City). IMC (Ancient British) has improved at the top of Division C this week as closest challengers batesmotel (Bosporan) and Challenge1 (Dacian) both suffered defeats. Swuul (Germanic Horse Tribes) has recovered from a poor start to sit in mid-table with his first 2 wins. bomber23 (Germanic Horse Tribes) suffered his first defeat this week, but he still leads Division D ahead of unbeaten edb1815 (Breton). Doyley50 (Dacian) is in third place with 2 wins from 3 starts. DanZanzibar (Arab City) has cruised into the lead in Division E after his fifth straight win but he could still face strong challenges from Aetius39 (Palmyran), baldrick52 (Frankish) and MadMaxBot (Roman), who are all also unbeaten so far. Similarly, in Division F, Warg1 (Arab City) has a commanding lead at the moment after 5 straight wins, but both hyme (Alan) and Morat (Ostrogoth) also remain unbeaten after winning their first 2 matches.
