CEaW False Positive for Trojan

Post by MarkWayneClark »

For some reason, McAfee shows the executable for this game as a trojan, "Generic.dx" and deletes the file. The only way for me to play the game is disable virus protection while playing.

Well, unfornately, when I went to open the folder with the game in it, to look at the manual, McAfee was running, and it flagged the game as a trojan and deleted it.

I realize this is not Slitherine's problem, but getting an answer out of McAfee is impossible. Do you guys know any way to fix this?

Thanks.

I think you can add the game to your safe list or exclusion list - other people have had similar issues and fixed it this way. I'm not sure exactly how McAfee works though.

Mark - After you placed on the exclusion list - Did you reinstall the program?

I can't even find a way to place it on the exclusion list. This version of McAfee seems not to have that function.

Use a Free Anti-Virus, they are as good as the paid ones. Even have a smaller footprint. I use Avira but AVG Free is good too.
