MANUAL SAVE GAME NOT WORKING

Hi PC2 Tech Support, likely Zakblood?

Over the past 3 days I've played PC2, I've put in 6-8 hours of game play and then made SURE, I manually saved my progress. THEN, when I return to joyfully pick up where I finished, I am back at the bloomin' beginning/1st Mission, day #1 as if I'd done nothing. Each time I've gotten about 3-4 battles into the initial campaign, so a lot of fun grinding along. Then, all progress lost.

Attaching a DXDIAG. I don't know that it'll be much different than the one I sent a few days ago....lol

Thank you for your assistance with this fine game I would LOVE to start enjoying more.

if you install and run as admin, it sets up the right file save permissions, if you don't, it can be a permissions issue tbh

as it sets up your firewall and antivirus for you, without, either can stop the game from running correctly with poor 3rd party apps and programs, if your running the default with both on windows 10, this isn't a issue unless your not using a admin account, which is an issue

Hi Zakblood,

I always log in as the Administrator on Steam when I play all of my games.

OMG...I have left the PC running because I didn't want to lose my progress and therefore, lose my mind. BUT... JUST made it as far as the Deployment phase, turn 0 of DIJON battle? I performed a manual save via game controls and labeled it so as to be easy to find.

When I log back in, there is nothing. Not even close. I just have AUTOSAVES from the very 1st Mission/TRONDHEIM. No sight of my past many hours of progress over the last few days.

To be honest, though... I am also using a CHEAT HAPPENS Cheat Engine Trainer for Single Player Campaigns. Would that ever cause an issue like this? I've never had any issues before with any other games. I've never had this type of issue with a game, period.

Do hope you can help. This is like being stuck in a bad movie....lol.

One trick I use when saving in any wargame is to name the file 'aaaX' (X can be a name or number or anything)
Then when I want to load it later I go to the l-o-n-g list of auto-saved files and the 'aaa' stands out clearly.
And if I still can't find it, a system search for 'aaa' usually finds it, it can run but not hide..

WONDERFUL DAY ALL!

I cautiously waded into the controlled/protected file area as suggested by Herr Rudankort. Windows Defender has it all filed under Ransomware protection. I located "recently blocked files" and joyfully UNblocked everything that had a PC2 in it. I've now tested it 3x. Going in, making a move and a few changes and manually saved, completely exited out to desktop. Returned 3x and my new manually saved games with their recent changes are present and intact each time! It would seem as if this case has been solved.

THANK you Rudankort, Zakblood and PoorOldSpike! 1,000 times thank you ALL! Love this game so much and you all have made it possible to carry on. Really cannot thank you enough! What would us totally non-tech saavy E-1s do without you Officers?!!?!!

1000 thanks too. You resolve my problem, I would never thought to have a look on my firewall after an update while the game was running sooo gooood since the beginning.
