BIG BOYS FoG

FoG for BIG BOYS in Oz
A 800 point comp in glorious 28mm on vast 8x4 tables
18 & 19 July - residential - at Nowra south of Sydney

Can anyone comment on the terrain rules for this bigger table size - I have gone with 3-5 optional pieces and one optional piece can be chosen as a Large piece but counts as Normal in all respect - is that the way to go.

Since I am acquiring the larger size tables for BIG BOYS I am thinking of running a doubles comp - the proportional upscale for 800 points on a 6x4 table to 8x4 table would be 1066 points - an auspicious year in itself.

Can anyone suggest terrain rules and are there any other rules that are normally applied to doubles. I would very much like to go with a theme for this but as has been pointed out by a number of other posters, it would simply reduce the number of people able to attend and we have a smaller pool here in Oz so not practical - bugger!

Any comments welcome.

What MU size are you using for 28mm? This would affect the terrain issue.

Gary, if you haven't already can you put the dates in the OzFog calendar?

Thanks.

Ian

P.S. - don't forget to send results of the comp to Gary
Viking (15mm)
Syracusan (15mm)
Palmyran (10mm - 15mm basing)
Horse Nomad (15mm)

4x8 is vast? I'd consider that the minimum size for 650 pts in 25mm. 800 pts I'd want 5x9

Most (if not all actually) of our 25/28mm comps are 600 points on 6x4 tables. So I guess going to 800 points and retaining the 1 inch mu means that 8 foot wide and 4 foot deep is "pro-rata" correct (the "vast" being advertiasing hipe of course).

My experience of table size is that 800 points of 15mm on a 6x4 favours the run-away mounted armies a little. We have some 600 point comps on 4x3 tables happenning and I would suspect that these will favour the solid foot armies a tad. Pro-rata then 800 points of 15mm on a 6x4 equals 800 points of 25/28mm on a 9x4 - so an 8x4 may just equal out the run-away shooters a bit.

I will let you know how we go.

Will seek domestic permission to attend. I was thinking of taking time off in July so might be a good family holiday!
