Custom Army option gone

I've been playing the game for quite some time and suddenly last week the Custom Army option disappeared from the new game setup Option menu... the button is flat gone from the menu! I'm running the Steam version and checking the local files properties I'm told they are correctly installed. I wondered if the latest update could have caused this but I don't see anyone else reporting this??? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is it a random scenario or a normal scenario/campaign? For random maps, as patch notes state:
- Random maps now always start with a deployment phase (using "custom army" is not needed)

So custom army option is no longer available there. For other content, I can still see it.

Yes - I think you've ID'd the cause... I AM almost exclusively playing random scenarios...and that's where the custom army option has vanished... but I don't understand the reasoning for the change... EVERY game has a deployment phase... even when I don't change out units I still usually move/rearrange them in the available deployment hexes to optimize unit deployment. I also typically tend to discard anti-tank units for tanks and AA units for fighters... so I'd still like a custom army option. I hope the game designers will reconsider and bring back that option.
Which specific patch were you referring to? - if nothing else possibly I can get the original version of the software and reclaim my custom army option that way.

With this patch, ALL games on random maps start with a Deployment Phase, for exactly the same reasons which you quote - most people want to adjust or at least reposition their army. So, using "custom army" manually every time is no longer necessary, and it has been removed from advanced options. (And if you don't want to do any changes to your starting army, just end deployment phase when the game starts.). For what purpose do you want the option back?
