Streams

Post by angel42052 »

Hello Fellow Grognards,

1) Does the defender gain the benefit of the steam if he is in the stream tile itself or standing behind the tile?

2) What types of streams are there and what are their effects?

Thanks/Hail to all!

1) Standing behind, not in. This is also true of other terrain - a heavy infantry behind a rough ground tile being attacked by another heavy infantry on that rough ground will have an advantage. Not if they attack from open into rough, though.

2) Someone else can probably answer this part in more detail, but as I understand it, streams come in three types:

- small streams which do not disorder units but counts as non-open ground (for purposes of cohesion test modifiers for heavy/medium infantry in the open, lancer PoA in open ground, etc.)
-medium streams which count as non-open and do disorder heavy units (and are maybe impassable to heavy chariots? Not sure about this one, I think I noticed my chariots were unable to cross a stream which the rest of my units could in a battle I've fought in the past)
-large streams which are impassable except at fords

i think here is also a passable, but severely disordering stream, in addition to the passable but moderately disordering stream

There is and it's a right bugger if you haven't properly checked the terrain :)

Not quite right. Deep Streams Moderately Disorder Mediums but can be crossed anywhere. Only 'Water' type terrain cannot be crossed. There are special rules for chariots, however.
