Who's the best CEAW player you've played...?
... other than the mighty, undefeated "Stauffenberg" [aka Borger Borgensen], that is!
As far as I know, Stauffenberg, the 'B' in 'BJR mod', is still undefeated. Seems that by general acclamation he's the top seeded player. But who else is up there in the CEAW stratosphere?

I'm going to add joerock22 to the list. He's kicking my butt in a game right now. Now I know it can't be me so he must be a very, very, very good player.Diplomaticus wrote:... other than the mighty, undefeated "Stauffenberg" [aka Borger Borgensen], that is!

Seriously though, this butt kicking has taught me some valuable lessons and strategies that I can apply in the future and that I'm also applying in a couple of current games.
Joe and Borger also have a game underway as well as Joe and Jim (Happycat), who is the "J" in BJR. It'll be interesting to see how the BJR team fares against Joe.

Thanks, Ronnie; I'm honored. I'd like to add supermax to this list, as the only one who's beaten me on the vanilla game. My game with Borger is still early. He captured Paris in April 1940, so he has the early advantage. I learned a few things about defending France that I can employ in the future. Against Jim, it's August and I'm in the process of completing a successful Sealion. He made me pay for it with two units though, including an armour. Still, all three of these games will be decided in Russia, as you guys have been telling me from the outset. I can't wait! I only wish I had the time to play pbem games every dayI'm going to add joerock22 to the list. He's kicking my butt in a game right now. I would just like to comment that until now I've only played against Jim and Ronnie under different versions of the BJR-mod. Since we were playtesting it meant we tried things that were not necessarily smart, but important to see if the game balance was ok. Jim excelled in trying strange things and that was vital for playtesting, but made it harder for him to win.
We didn't finish all of our games because we found some flaws we wanted to correct and try the changes in a new game. I have to admit I've been hard pushed in some games that were aborted and could have lost them. I don't think game results in playtesting say that much about player skills. Usually we exchange a lot of info during the game so we can discuss improvements etc. In a real game you won't tell your opponent anything.
I'm sure that Jim and Ronnie will beat me sooner than later since the mod won't be changed all the time. So we will complete our games. I know that Joe will probably also give me a hard time. The BJR-mod is made in such a way that the Allies will eventually get the initiative and push the Germans back to Berlin when players of equal skills are competing. But it's so balanced so a better German player can win the game by taking Britain or crushing Russia. So you never know if you're going to win or not. It's balanced enough for both sides to have a CHANCE. Remember that the victory conditions is changed so the Axis will win the game if they hold Berlin or Rome by the end of May 1945. So the Allies really need to show their offensive skills to get to Berlin ahead of the real Allies.
I hope I will lose a game sooner than later because then people won't be as interested in taking my "scalp".

MMM thanks for the honor joerock... I also hope to beat you in the 2 other games we have ongoing at the moment as well.
The best opponent i've been against in this forum is Joerock. his strategy against Russia in our game 2 is proving very tough to manage. So far i am keeping him at bay end-of-1942, but i dont know whats goign to happen for 1943. Still confident to stop him, but...
Another very good player i played against is my very good friend, but he is unknown to this forum. We have beaten each other several times, and tried several alterations of strategy. The best one he came up agaisnt me was to kill the italians in 1940. Damn i got licked in that game! I should tell him to connect and challenge some opponents he is a very interesting foes to play against
The worst i wont even mention the name since playing the allies, i made the germans surrender in 1940!!!
I would like to meet up in a vanilla game with Stauffenberg, the seemingly undefeated player. I would like to think that i can beat him, allies or Axis!

Max, I'm with you. To tell you the honest truth, I'm a bit spooked by the idea of taking on Stauffenberg on his own home ground. He seems to know *everything* about this game. I was thinking of proposing a pair of matches next summer--one vanilla, one BJR mod. From the sound of this thread, though, looks like I'll have to take a number. I guess a lot of us want a shot at knocking down the King of the Hill.supermax wrote:I would like to meet up in a vanilla game with Stauffenberg, the seemingly undefeated player. But I need to sharpen my skills some more first against some other top players. Anybody up for a vanilla game? (I've only got one going at the moment, a v. interesting match against Happycat.)
This summer I intend to start playing the BJR mod, but I haven't had a chance to do more than peruse the log of changes, house rules, etc. Looks like it's a completely different game! Thanks to the Borger, Jim & Ronnie for all their hours of labor that we all get to benefit from.
Hey Diplomaticus, i am certainly up to take you on in a vanilla game.
What version do you use? i have 1.06b. I currently have games against Joerock only, so plenty of time to do more games!
I will let you choose the side you want: Axis or Allies
my email is suprematie@videotron.ca, send me your first turn if you play axis or give me a sign i'll send you my first turn.
