Scapa Flow

Post by Jimbo »

Hi all.

I'm new to CEaW (just downloaded last week and found the 1.12 mod) but I've played 3R before (both boardgame and PC).

Question: does anyone have any tips on dealing with/occupying Scapa Flow? I've got to the point of dealing with the last 2 cities and while I can get ground units to hit Glasgow, I can't see any way of dealing with what is just an island with a garrison, other than heaps of air/naval bombardment. It's gonna be in supply so it can be rebuilt every time which strikes me as a bit unhistorical.[/img]

As you said - Air and Naval - Then an immediate assault with a corps of Infantry.

My tip is to just leave Scapa Flow alone (this applies to Malta too). It isn't worth anything ecnomocally, and you will just waste your oil resources trying to take it. Use your bombers to bomb something important, like enemy cities in Norway, Yugoslavia, Greece, and Russia. The one thing to note about Scapa Flow is that it can supply British partisans if they control that Scottish hex directly to the southwest of the port.

Thanks for the replies: I think I'll take the 'ignore it' advice. Nice point about the supply of partisans BTW.
