Macedonian cavalry provincial unit... not useful?
I started playing the new dlc as Macedon, created the Macedon province and checkede my new macedonian cavalry unit... which is more expensive than the standard light cavalry, has the same attack and defense values and the standard one is better at skirmishing.
What am I missing here?

One of their stats is way better then the average light cavalry - they have double the flanking modifier of the generic light infantry which makes them leathal flankers.

Really? I completely overlooked this.
I'm still having some difficulty adapting to this game battle system... I played before but always exported battles to fog.

I only checked in the non DLC campaign scenario - not 100% sure if the same appplies for the DLC campaign. You can hoover the mouse over the units stats and see that their flanking power is at 4.
Re: Macedonian cavalry provincial unit... not useful?
It seems to be the case. That said, I don't know if this justifies paying double the price for less skirmishing and more flanking.

Macedonian Light Cavalry (Prodromoi) weren't skirmishers, more accurately they were 'anti skirmishers', I wouldn't field an army without them
Re: Macedonian cavalry provincial unit... not useful?
I agree that macedonian prodromoi was less of a skirmisher unit... I don't know if this is actually portrayed in game though.
Comparing them to normal light cavalry:

The difference between them is basically their flanking range and the fact that light cavalry are "Superior skirmishers" whereas Macedonian light cavalry are "Good Skirmishers". Also, Macedonian cavalry is more expensive and harder to maintain (which implies it's better imo).
I'm not complaining about it being ok or not, but I would like to know how exchanging +2 flanking for 2 "extra fatigue margin on enemy" makes them more desirable and in which situations.

Good remark, can't say the provincial cavalry is definitively superior to the mundane one here. It can benefits from a slight boost, I'm not adverse to that. What you guys think about either +1 atk, +1 def or +1 effec? Lets have several players agreeing on the same change though.

Re: Macedonian cavalry provincial unit... not useful?
I would probably go for +1 atk to represent their advantage when using the xyston, which would be their main difference when compared to similar hellenic calvary units. That and their shock use.
Let's see what others think!
