Steam FeldMarshal version: do I need patch 3?

I just bought the field marshal version on Steam. News bit says Patch 3 is available, but has no link to the patch. I'm having stalls trying to load my games - "unresponsive" as I try to continue my Polish campaign (Warsaw is next).

Unless you have told it to not do so, Steam will automatically keep the game up to date. You don't need to manually install patches.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think everybody's splash screen currently looks like this with the game version number 1.1.0 at the bottom after installing Patch 3-

problem is the game keeps crashing 1. when I am making a transition from a finished battle and beginning the next battle. 2. When I'm in the unit purchase menu. BTW, thanks to you both for your advice.

without a report, or at least a error, it's hard to say what could be the issue

I just noticed it takes about 3-4 minutes to "load" a new battle OR when I'm shopping in mid-game (I guess I won't do that). All is fine, I suppose.
