Suggestion thread - MP improvements

Dear players

What would be the most useful improvements to make to the multiplayer game lobby or organization for you?

And a more focused question, what do you feel in having an moderator (who can be a player) with extra decision powers (freezing the game, booting a player etc.). If we adopted this, which decisions would be allowed and under which circumstances?

These suggestions might be partially or fully implemented in the next game of the Empires series, so don't hold your breath! We are talking months and perhaps even year(s) for some suggestions

In-game private messaging! Followed by in-game private messaging. And then, allowing replacement players to step in to a quitting players spot. Or even take over an AI position, for that matter.

As to arbiter, would be ok as an option I guess. Such an arbiter could handle player replacement issues mentioned above.

+1 for replacement players. That could be the job of the arbiter to decide who can take over what nation.

The arbiter also needs a fail system for when the arbiter himself vanishes. There should always be a secondary who can take over. Chosen by seniority or by the arbiter.

A more democratic approach would be that the arbiter can only make proposals and the rest votes on them. Arbiter does not vote but can break ties.

The arbiter should be able to:
- extend the deadline (to a limit)
- change game parameters
- invite or eject players
- limit the choice of nations for new players (which includes currently AI controlled nations)

It should be possible to choose what the arbiter can do before the game starts. Thus the players know what to expect.

I agree with Jim.

An arbiter would be interesting but the messaging is more critical in my opinion, multiplayer really suffers without it.
"I'll gladly trade you some ARVN rifles, never been fired and only dropped once"
