Tactical puzzles

Since I've finished my first campaign a couple of days ago I thought I'd run through the puzzles last night.

Well they're certainly brain scratchers! I may have underestimated how long they'd take me :lol:

Still, I've learnt how to split units at long last! Hopefully do some more tonight!

Operation X is done. Wasn't too bad in all honestly.

lol yes I tried several times before figuring it out. It is possible but tricky.

I had a shower thought this morning and I think I know the step I'm missing. Of course that will just let me see what's actually at the left objective. Might still be some more steps!

Still there's not many pieces on the board so.......

Looks like they changed the unit cap. Losing the M26 still doesn't allow you to split the bridge layer.

Yes you used to start the puzzle at 40/32. Now its 40/28.

There was a note in patch 3 they changed the puzzle.

Oh man - well I've worked out how to free up slots to split. I can get enough firepower on the right to take the city whoop!

But I can literally only get 2 flame tanks tonthe left and the can't do enough damage :(

The long Tom is the one to go. I can pm you exactly how if you like to avoid spoilers. But then again I haven't completed it yet lol

That left 1 seems impossible! There are only 3 units on the map that can reach it. The 2 flame tanks and the plane. But you need the plane for the right hand hex!

I think I know what I need to do, just not how to do it without running out of attack options :(

Need an attack to load someone onto a train and an attack to be able to disband.

I think it may be impossible. What ever they changed was to much.

It doesn't matter how clever you are. Only the recon car can reach the right hand hex to attack and force enemy to retreat. None of the other units can (the tank because ofbthe blocking infantry. The other ground units on that side to not have the speed or range to help)

Only the 2 flame tanks can reach the left hand hex. (The AA can but that is the only unit able to capture the hex)

That leaves the train - which can only attack on the right VH.

The plane can attack either

However the recon on the right us not able to win without the plane 1st.

Also my 2 flame tanks can not win on the left without the plane too.

I can get all available units to the attack spot a but don't have enough fire power to actually win it. Unless I can also find a way to split the plane maybe. But I can't see what other unit I could suicide!

EDIT: I did a test. Anything less than a full strength plane & train plus the recon is not enough to take the hex.

It's not impossible! Hint- you literally have to use every single unit!

BC I (and probably others) found a solution the dev hadn't thought about... so the puzzle was changed.

Quite the contrary.

Devs made a puzzle. Puzzle was solved. Devs decided to change puzzle. Duhhhh.

They get the exact opposite of kudos from me.

Whilst I can agree that changing the puzzle after it was solved is a bit naughty I still think its is well designed and certainly a brain work out, that's what they get kudos for.
