Light Spear (Mounted) Impact POA
I have a doubt about POA at Impact for Light Spear of Mounted Troops. What does it mean "against any if no other net POA"? Net POA refers only to mounted troops or even to their enemy? An example. Mounted troops armed with light spear charge impact foot. Impact foot get +POA. Does Cav get +POA or not?

I think it means if your enemy has no POA you get the POA for light spear otherwise you don't get a POAmarioslaz wrote:I have a doubt about POA at Impact for Light Spear of Mounted Troops. Mario, it works like this:
Example 1: Heavy foot with impact foot capability vs cavalry with light spear in open terrain:
Impact foot Have + POA vs mounted. Cavalry have no POA. POAs are not equal so the POA for light spear is not used. Combat will be heavy foot as a +, cavalry as a -
Example 2: Medium foot with impact foot capability vs cavalry with light spear in open terrain:
Impact foot Have + POA vs mounted. Cavalry have a + POA for fighting Medium foot in open terrain. POA is equal so Cavlary get + POS for light spear. Combat will be medium foot as a - POA, Cavalry as a + POA.
Also, if the Medium foot lose the impact they will get a - on the Cohesion test for losing against mounted in the open.
The result in game terms is that cavalry armed with light spear are effective against medium foot in the open, but not against heavy foot (with equal luck)

Yes, remember that convention that you just didn't win? Well, you actually should have wonrecharge wrote:Ah! We have been doing this wrong![]()
We have only been counting the light spear if there were zero other POA's
Guess we'll have to go back and replay all those games![]()

The +1 if no net POA's means that light spear armed cavalry are better than lancers if they fight in uneven or rough terrain as the lancers only get their lance bonus in the open. This means the light spear cavalry has more manoeuvre options, as long as there no MF about. Know I just have to work on getting those lancers to move into the uneven ground

I've noticed this as well. In fact they are substantially better as both will be disordered by terrain meaning the less dice will be more deciding. It can easily go either way, but ultimately it SHOULD go in the direction of the spear armed cavarly. So, Greek types want to have loads of terrain which will disorder them AND lighthorse so that the enemy lighthorse don't have their own version of a field day (unless of course you have loads of lighthorse yourself - not many Greeks do).
