Hotkey to make planes vanish?

Post by PoorOldSpike »

Is there a hotkey I haven't heard about that lets us toggle air units on/off?
I don't mean the existing key that whites out the whole map except for planes, I mean one that simply makes the planes vanish so that we can see what's underneath.
For example the planes are cluttering this view up-

Planes were originally higher, and way back when, strategic bombers were supposed to be higher still. Thats why we have the vertical coloured bar tethering them to the centre of the hex. So you could easily see which hex they belonged to.
I don't know when or why they were lowered but maybe they need to be looked at as put a KV-2 in there and I'm sure a plane will be sat on top of it.

Looks like you've also rotated your lighting, which has reduced the shading on the vehicles, making their shape harder to understand, and the plane shaows are getting a little obscured by the planes themselves.

I never noticed the colour bars til you just mentioned them because they're almost too faint to see and serve no useful purpose anyway..;)
What's needed is a new hotkey to get rid of the planes completely.
For example that Stuka is sitting smack on top of a tank, making it impossible to see what type of tank it is.
And sometimes its a bit tricky to select a ground unit if a planes sitting on it, as the mouse doesn't know if we want to select the plane or the ground unit.
I seem to remember some other games have a key to toggle planes on/off but sadly PC2 doesn't have such a key.

And if the vertical bars were stronger we'd get complaints about them being obnoxious.

If the planes were a little bit higher, they would sit more in the space between tanks and wouldn't obscure their own hex so much.
