btw this was a game I started before the last patch hit, so the models ended up a weird abomination of parts from the old model and the new TT mod model.

This should go away once you start a new game. It's happened before with patches.

Those appear to be modded textures. The vanilla units don't have any red shields in the blue shield unit.

Maybe a problem with the modded texture?

Could be possible. I darkly remember some additional shield pattern mod, that came out in the early days.

a clean install every now and then fixes everything for those who add mods etc, the rest, well it's still good practice imo, called house cleaning

It is maybe one of my first skin mod version. I have update it: viewtopic.php?f=477&t=87535

So, I made a fresh clean install (deinstalled in steam, then installed again), but 'Cthulhu' is still there.

Perhaps you can try clean all files in My Documents/My Games/FOGII as steam uninstall doesn't delete files in this folder.

Also, if you had added the mod to the main game folders, (which you should not do) an uninstall might not remove them. You would have to manually delete the mod files from the main game folders.

Ok. I found the bad files and deleted them.
Cthulhu sleeps again.
