Scenario: Rattenkrieg (Stalingrad)

Post by NETSCAPE »

The topic discussion continues at: viewtopic.php?p=851319#p851319

Player: Germany
Posture: Offensive
Theme: Historical
Turns: 25
Unit Slots: 160
Time Frame: Summer\Fall 1942

I put a lot of work into finding the most appropriate scale for a Stalingrad map. In my PC2 version of the battle you will have airfields within range to carpet bomb the city - which you will need to do. The scale of the map also allows Soviet artillery units to sit on the islands of the Volga and fire into the city - just like they did in the real battle.

If you feel 25 turns is too short or there is too much prestige or any other issues, let me know.

Hey, Netscape! First of all, thank you very much for another scenario. You might want to consider changing its "editor-internal" name/descriptor to "Rattenkrieg" proper, though (or something like "Stalingrad2"). If you leave it like this, and the user happens to have copied over the vanilla campaign's scenarios to the Documents (sub-)folder for testing (like I did), it conflicts with the vanilla Stalingrad scenario. The effect is that your scenario doesn't show up in the scenario selection list at all (at least for me), but instead the vanilla Stalingrad scenario will show up and be loaded. Cheers!

I did name the scenario "Rattenkrieg" in the editor scenario param settings. It shows up in my game menu. So I am not sure what is happening?

UPDATE:
- Added overstrength bunker/strongpoint to represent the famous "Grain Elevator" in southern Stalingrad. This replaces the Train Station No.2 objective.
- Changed hex and unit names to reflect objective changes.
- Changed briefing text to reflect objective change.
