Hello everyone, I am new to the forum.
Perhaps someone can help me out on this:
I am playing 1.06 on two PCs connected through a cross IP cable.
We regularly start a new game. Until here all is ok, including the succession of turns.
When we have to stop playing, the player with the active turn goes on options and saves the game.
When later we try to resume play, the one who saved the game on his PC goes to the main menu/load multiplayer game/tcpip then clicks on the 1939 icon, selects the saved game and is lead to the next menu (the host/join one), being ready to host.
What should the other player do to join the game? We tried a bit of everything without success, e.g. main menu/load multiplayer; main menu/new multiplayer. We even manually transported the saved file from one PC to the other and tried to load on both. Nothing appear to work...
Help will be most appreciated... we cannot play the whole war in one go!!!!!!
resuming a multiplayer saved game

The other player picks either "Join Multiplayer" or "Load Multiplayer" both work. In the tcpip submenu type in the IP number (of the host) in the empty field and then click "JOIN"

Thanks, but we still have problems.
After 30 minutes of 'circle spinning' and several checks of IP numbers, we gave up. What puzzles me is that it would appear to be some connection problem, but then why would the new game work perfecty?
As a side note, I reinstalled the game and was told I have version 1.12
One other thing: one PC runs on XP, the other on Vista.
Another observation: if I try to load the save game in a non-multiplayer way (i.e. 'load save' from the menu) I get an error message saying that the game was saved with a previous version of the game.
I hope I can solve the issue as my Axis opponent, after wasting a lot of time in minor campaign, has attacked France so late that I am actually holding the line at Brussels-Luxembourg and NE of the Maginot line! We are now in Oct 1940.
Thanks for any help

Sorry you are having probelms. If you change verisons you wont be able to load saved games i'f afriad
You also need to ensure you both have the same version for multiplayer.
How did you go from 1.06 to 1.12? 1.12 is either Military History version or the free zip upgrade and if you had the MH version you'd never have had v1.06. I'm a bit confused about your setup. Can you clarify exactly what you did when you installed the game - what version you installed first, what patch etc.

Hello again,
good news is that, after switching to two XP machines on a cross cable, we were able to resume the saved game.
Regarding the version, we are playing the Military History version installed from a CD-ROM. I was mislead by my friend on the version in use, and realised I was on 1.12 only during re-installation (the wizard said so). And actually I could not see the version number in the game interface, not even during loading.
