Re: Erik's campaigns
Finished the Coral Sea scenario and thoroughly enjoyed it. You are using a better map than the one used in the official campaign Coral Sea game.
The Jap Battleships came very close to catching my carriers and sank several cruisers and destroyers.
I have a suggestion for your consideration. The escort fleet for the Jap transports seems pretty weak in comparison to all of the troops being shipped. With all of the air power at Port Morseby and in Australia - picking them off was fairly easy. You may wish to consider strengthening the escorts there.
I came across a weird bug on Midway. I had a Major Victory in Coral Sea. Launched Midway and it immediately gave me a minor victory without loading the scenario. This happened twice. Could it be that I'm playing Red Steel for a review and somehow the update messed up your scenario? Or is it something else?
Once again, thanks for sharing your work.

Re: Erik's campaigns
Been enjoying the Invasion of the Solomons (Watchtower?) scenario in your US Pacific campaign. I'm midway through attempting to keep the troop and supply ships afloat from the Japanese surface fleet and aircraft.
Hate to bring it up because I'm enjoying this so much and you put it out there for free, but I came across another error. On turn 2 I started getting notes that I've failed to sink two Jap Carriers - when this is something I must accomplish by the end of the campaign. Screenshot attached. I'll let you know if this continues when the scenario is complete - assuming I end up sinking some Jap Carriers.

Re: Erik's campaigns
The carrier indicator worked out in the end (see screenshot). The Tugulai invasion indicator ended up being off. Eventually, the Jap surface fleet sank all of the troopships. I eventually sank the Jap surface fleet. The AI supply ships ran in and out of the harbors - and the indicators for the last 15 - 20 turns showed the invasion victories were achieved. Ended up with a draw.
But honestly, as long as the campaign continues to let me play I'm happy. Watchtower was a very well designed scenario and it was hard to keep the Jap naval air and their surface fleet from sinking most of my fleet.
Again, many thanks for doing this.

Keep'em coming, airboy. This is very useful.
Re: Erik's campaigns
Dear Erik,
just wanted to say a quick "tusen takk" for creating a series of great campaigns.
I just completed the Germany west 1939-1940, and it is great. I even tried the new Jutland scenario, but had to give up on it and go thru Zealand instead, as I can't quite figure out how to get to the northern fleet in the Jutland scenario. Jutland has a big map, but it seems almost too big.
I am guessing that the west scenario 39-40 west leads into both 41-42 east, 41-43 west and Africa corps, right?

Re: Erik's campaigns
Jutland is a tough one just because of map size compared with turn limit. If you want to take out the Northern Danish fleet, keep some bombers in reserve for when your paratroops take one of the Northern airfields. One of them should be a condor for extra ship damage because the battleship is a toughy. Your ships won't make it in time.pedersen wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 7:03 pm Dear Erik,

Re: Erik's campaigns
This is a very timely discussion as I just had my back side handed to me by the Danes in these scenarios. Tried the new Jutland scenario a couple of times but couldn't figure out how to get it done within the time limit.
Rolled back and went with the old familiar Zealand scenario, only to find that it is not so familiar at all. I kept trying with progressively stronger landing parties at København only to have my forces annihilated every time by the largest assembly of artillery I have even seen in an OOB scenario. I don't remember this scenario being so brutal before, would love to hear some suggestions on how to tackle this one now.
Erik, I did find an issue with the Jutland scenario, the three 10.5 cm artillery loaded on the SdKfz 7 transports that spawn on turn 2 do not unload from the transports and are therefore unusable.

Guys, thanks for the feedback on Jylland.
Added to the list.
And yes, you should be able to save your core and import into the next campaign.

Re: Erik's campaigns
Is the German East '44 campaign working for everybody else? It's not loading for me. All other campaigns work fine.
I double checked the files and everything is updated and in it's place. I wonder if something happened to the updated version from a couple months ago.

There's some issue with this campaign. Seems like the German East '45 campaign infiltrated '44Jesse1 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2020 8:18 am Is the German East '44 campaign working for everybody else? It's not loading for me. All other campaigns work fine.

Re: Erik's campaigns
Dear Erik, first of all BIG THANK YOU for creating awesome content for us!!
I've started big campaign and it's really something far more challenging than vanilla game!
So far, I've encountered just minor issue, Germany West 1939-40, when I get "Draw" in the first mission then I'm allowed to do the same mission again which is illogical. The worse is I have my core units from "previous" draw attempt and thus I doubled my resources. It's very tempting to abuse it and have a planty of requisition points.

Most of my campaigns give the players the option refight a scenario in case of a draw. This is a quicker way than having to reload a save-game.
But I see the possibility of misuse, especially the resource issue. I may change it to allow a draw to move to the next scenario.
Re: Erik's campaigns
Erik - I have an observation on the US Pacific campaign for you to consider.
If you win Coral Sea and sink the required number of Jap Carriers there seems to be no impact on Midway (where you face very long odds - 8 carriers?). Sink most of the Midway carriers (not easy to do) and you face overwhelming odds in the Solomons - twice.
The way I'm counting it - I've sunk 80% of the Jap carriers before the 2nd Solomons battle and I'm still way behind of fleet carriers engaged in battle. Worse, the 2nd Solomons you get hammered if any Jap ship reaches Guadalcanal and the surface fleet the Japs hit you with in this scenario (I check with the orbital platform map reveal) makes it extremely hard if not impossible to prevent this from occurring.
The Solomons was a long battle of attrition and the turning point of the War after Midway. Historically, Japan starts with a big advantage there in land aircraft and surface ships - but not in carriers. Losses at Midway made the fleet carrier tally on both sides roughly even until the US building program swamped Japan in 1943-44. Further, the critical quality advantage in carrier pilots in Japan's favor was eliminated with the Midway losses and their poor ability to recover flight crews.
But the way you have the campaign constructed you are far behind and will stay that way regardless of the outcomes of previous battles. In contrast, in the Aristocrats campaigns if you manage to achieve the victory conditions it does have an impact on future battles.
I think you might want to consider relative force levels based on campaign performance. As it stands, the US Pacific campaign has you pushing a boulder uphill over and over again. If nothing else, if your carriers survive earlier encounters the number of fleet & naval air units the US player can field should be increased.
Just a thought. The play balance in the German1939-1940 and Afrika Corps campaigns was quite good. Play balance in US Pacific seems off - even considering how far behind the US Navy was prior to Coral Sea and initially in the Solomons. I don't mind minor victories given the odds the US Navy is facing - but it is a challenge to keep sinking Jap carriers without losing your own carriers and keep being behind in carrier aircraft.
But again, thanks for doing this and sharing your work.

Re: Erik's campaigns
Started playing the first US Corps. Really easy - until you hit Medjez El Bob. That scenario was one of the hardest scenarios I've ever played in OOB. Really well done. I got a major victory only after having my head handed to me twice. Third time was the charm.
Only way I was able to win was to take a motorized AA unit and stage my fighters in ambush until I finally was able to knock out the Bf109s. I also had to throw everything with in-depth AT coverage from the Wolverine and a 57mm AT gun (motorized) that I hauled along. Moved slowly, concentrated my forces, kept the AA gun in range of my fighter escort and won a major victory.
Congratulations! This scenario is just as challenging as the (Aristocrats) Coral Sea Battle which is also an absolute bear to win. Well Done!

Re: Erik's campaigns
airboy, thanks for the comments.
About Japanese carrier losses. Good idea, I'll see if I can add campaign variables that will carry losses from one scenario to the next.

Re: Erik's campaigns
Just played the new Maubeuge Scenario in Germany West 1939-40 and it was pretty good. Neither of the Secondary Objectives are working though, Destroy all Allied Air and Armour. The count shows zero units remaining but does not show as complete.

You probably have to wait for the scen to end for them objectives to validate (?)
