Fw 190 F seriously cannot attack airplanes??

Post by dumb_user »

I am just playing Winterkrieg, the Viipuri scenario. If you manage to hold the VT line for at least 10 turns you get air support from the Germans. I found that their Fw 190 F can't attack enemy airplanes (see attached jpg, no crosshairs to indicate the probable outcome against the Yak-7). The Fw 190 F was not a pure fighter, but a fighter bomber that could effectively attack ground targets and had reduced air combat capability. But certainly it could still fight other airplanes.
Is this a bug in the game or intentional?

The FW190F is classified as a tactical bomber.

I'm afraid it wasn't so easy to fight like a fighter for F model
Reinforced armor of the hull, wings, cabin and chassis, installation of additional equipment, weight of bombs/missiles carried and significant reduction of the number of MGs - all this significantly reduced the speed, maneuverability and other important advantages of the FW 190 as a fighter
FW 190 F and G were protected by "typical" fighters, e.g. Bf 109G/K, FW 190A/D during bombing missions.

But this issue is an unintentional oversight and will be fixed in the next patch, as far as I know

Yeah, they're back as fgt in a couple days when RS is out, and then can air attack just fine.

I think the idea to upgrade Tacs to FW 190 JaBos has merit, but it would have required extra changes to the Tac class which were not feasible. So they're back to normal with the release of Red Steel.
