Re: NATO Icons
I agree that classical NATO counters might not fit this game perfectly, but I certainly would appreciate a way to customize the strength plates.
A common impression I get is that custom skins are often used to mark and identify units, e.g. to tell tactical bombers and fighters apart. Some players do so begrudgingly, as i.e. desert camo in western europe does not make much sense.
So instead of using unrealistic unit skins to help identify units, the strength plates could be used for this by attaching a custom flag, symbol, abbreviation ... to them. I feel it would help organizing the army visually. Some unit types can hardly be told apart just by looking at them...

Re: NATO Icons
I would like a NATO-style counter option, though I know if it comes, it will only come via mod. It is just a preference. There is a NATO mod for Panzer Corps Gold that I like a lot I think it works very well in that game. Again, my preference, I'm sure a minority opinion.
Re: NATO Icons
Many gamers may not know it (except perhaps those who have served in their nation's army) but NATO also has map symbols for individual combat elements like tanks, machine guns, rocket launchers, trucks, AA guns, aircraft, etc. They are logical and straightforward, but would be mysterious hieroglyphics to anyone previously not aware of them. Most gamers are familiar with the standardized NATO symbols for higher organizations like companies, battalions, divisions, and unit types like armor, mechanized, infantry, artillery. The individual weapon/vehicle symbols are kind of obscure but might work for a game like this, but would also not have the dramatic impact that the 3D tank images have, which is part of the game's motif. I could see offering gamers a choice but frankly would never use it myself as I quite like the 3D models in the game.
Re: NATO Icons
I can't see NATO markers working here but you can put rainbow camo on your units
that help?

Hmmm. That might be the second best option.Dorky8 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 9:48 pm I can't see NATO markers working here but you can put rainbow camo on your units
