What good are captured units?
I can't seem to purchase the one it says I have with 10 str. and if they are the same cost then what good are they? Can't find much info in the manual. Not sure why captured units are good or helpful?

You get the full cost of captured equipment refunded, so essentially you're paying nothing. But you can use the prestige for other things instead.superman81906 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:37 pm I can't seem to purchase the one it says I have with 10 str. and if they are the same cost then what good are they? Also, if you play Retrograde, captures become more interesting. But you really need Trophies to get enough parts.

Mostly it's a matter of flavour, unless you're playing with Retrograde, in which case quite a few of them are valuable. Even w/o Retrograde early French and British heavy armour is stronger than German, e.g., the Somua, Char and Matilda, and the same is true for a number of other armoured vehicles. Soviet armour is significantly stronger, with the T-34 and KVs towering above German armour in '41.

The Germans even had a word for it - beutepanzers. They even built their own T34 in captured factories, the T34 747. Rommel used Matildas in North Africa.
It adds flavor.

And there is a very good Soviet SPAA.
Re: What good are captured units?
The big boon of captured T-34s is their movement 6 which you don't have on your own tanks for a while.

You need to have captured at least 10 points, i.e., the equivalent of one entire unit. Then you can buy or upgrade to it as were it a prototype, e.g., if you have 24 points of T-34s you can field 2 T-34s and have 4 points spare to use for repairs.

To be useful and worthwhile captured equipment should have reduced core slots. As it is I have never used them. they simply clutter up my screen. At least make them sellable, even at a reduced price.

You already get the full value of the remaining strength of a unit when you capture it, so they are effectively free. The last thing we need is for captured units to print even more prestige.

Re: What good are captured units?
Yeah, but if you don't go out of your way to capture enemy units, you will not even get enough strength points to field those units. I am reading those AARs, and yes, they might be able to field some beutepanzer, but in my playthrough (I went the africa route) I rarely got enough strength points to ever field units. I would have been able to field some of the rather weak at-, aa- or artillery guns and one matilda II (got 11 of those). Now after london I would be able to field a churchill (because i surrounded the one that churchill used), but it is weaker in every aspect than my tiger tanks.SineMora wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:58 pm Mostly it's a matter of flavour, unless you're playing with Retrograde, in which case quite a few of them are valuable. I think there should be some different way to field captured units. It's not like it happened on a really large scale during the war anyways, but it is cool to have some variety. As of now, most players will never field a captured unit during a playthrough.
Maybe if you capture 10 strength points of a certain unit, they could be available as a auxiliary unit for one mission or until they are destroyed?
