Very tempted!
Hi all,
I am very tempted to buy this game, when I was young I still remember countless hours spent playing Panzer General!
It seems a very stable version and lot of positive comments so far.
So, I have a couple of questions then:
1) At the moment you can only play as German, any chance to fight with other countries in the future?
2) Why the price on Steam and this site is different? I don't mind the few Euros of difference, just trying to understand the reason.
Thanks in advance!

1. You can only play as German in Single Player right now. DLC for other nations is possible but not guaranteed. You can fight in 1939, 1941, 1943, or 1945 vs Western Allies, Soviets, or in Africa.
Multiplayer to my understanding has all 3 sides (Western Allies, Germany, and Soviets) unlocked but I could be wrong on that.
2 - Valve / Steam takes a cut if you buy it through them. Slytherine is the actual publisher of the game.

Re: Very tempted!
In the Random Battle Generator you can choose to be German, British, Russian, American or Italian. But be warned, you can't choose the nationality of the computer opponent, so you might find yourself randomly playing against a computer opponent who's the same nationality as yourself.
I've already griped about it in another thread and hopefully Slith will fix it in a future update.
Alternatively you can build your own scens in the Editor and choose which nationality you and the comp are going to be.
Re: Very tempted!
I was a huge fan of PG2. IMO PC2 moves PC1 much more towards PG2. The battle mechanics of PC2 are a big improvement, much more intricate and sophisticated.
I only play MP. MP has been quite stable for me and you can play either side. There is plenty of MP content to start, the scenarios are quite good and balanced. They will have to add more content over time which I'm sure they will.
I think if you liked PG2 you'll like this.

Thanks guys for your quick answers!
I am interested to play SP and MP as well, glad to read that more factions are available in other modes.
In fact I am already sold...
If I buy the game on Slytherine platform, do you think I will able to play MP against people using Steam?
Edit: the boxed edition is without printed manual, only the DVD, is it correct?

You can buy the game from Slitherine then generate a Steam key and install from Steam if you wish

Re: Very tempted!
You should be able to play against anyone as the MP is handled by Slitherine.
As was pointed out, if you buy from Slitherine, Slitherine will also provide a Steam Key. However if you buy from Steam, you aren't given a Slitherine key.

Re: Very tempted!
The Editor allows for creating & randomizing scenarios with many options.
This includes selecting any offered side for you & your opponent (hotseat) as well as the AI.
You can even have an AI vs AI scenario.
Simply load the Editor, set up your game of choice & Play.
You can save the scenarios for later battles, as well.

Thanks for your (all) help!
Re: Very tempted!
Beware, it has the drawback of being 3D.
Old PG3D-Assault was better because the 3D units were more readable, but too it was worst because it was too zoomed.
Strategic map of PG3D was not playable, but the one of PC2 at now, even theorically playable, is still not what needed, it's far from being as usefull and beautifull than PC1 play map.
Let's hope for patches.
Re: Very tempted!
Thanks for your input, looking at the game scrennshots it seems fine to me, maybe is less good when you have to select the units.

Re: Very tempted!
Admittedly unit selection can be a bit fiddly at times, and depending on the terrain identifying units isn't always crystal clear, either. It's one of the drawbacks of opting out of using sprites, but many units -- especially armour -- really do look lovely now. On the other end of the spectrum you have full NATO counters, which undoubtedly make a game easier to play, but they're a tad dull to say the least. Mind you, I'd never want to play a game like, say, Hearts of Iron 3 with models instead of counters, but I think it works well enough in PzC as to not render the game unplayable.

Re: Very tempted!
I bought the game yesterday and I have played the tutorials so far (very well done!), now I'm trying to resolve the tactical puzzles (great idea!)
I'm fine with the 3D units and the map, I like it.
What I found pretty annoying is the mouse selction, left-click to select and left-click again to move/fight is counterintituive for me, tons of misclicks, why the standard left-click/right-click cannot work here?
Maybe it's just me.

It's not just you. The way the map is done, and the way you have to click around planes, and left-left everything, I still do a ton of misclicks even after 100s of hours. I misclick so much I find I can't play Ironman bc of itAAntares wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 5:37 pm I bought the game yesterday and I have played the tutorials so far (very well done!), now I'm trying to resolve the tactical puzzles (great idea!)

Well in the MP mode, I will be the easiest player to play to!

Not sure from your comments if you have tried the regular Panzer Corps. If you haven't and you liked the original Panzer General, then you will definitely enjoy Panzer Corps.

Nope, many players have similar problems (I'm one of them). You get somewhat used to it eventually, but I'm not sure I'll ever dare use true ironman.AAntares wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 5:37 pm I bought the game yesterday and I have played the tutorials so far (very well done!), now I'm trying to resolve the tactical puzzles (great idea!)

Re: Very tempted!
I came into it from an Ultimate General Civil War / XCOM 2 background.
It has the same "learn-the-battle", "bastard hard" kind of feeling Ultimate General Civil War does, where you restart the game multiple times because you know better now and you want to see how much better you do. Try 1 you're out of Prestige by the time you get to Crusader; Try 2 you're cresting the high water mark at Moscow before collapsing; Try 3 you're rolling over Stalingrad with ease and end the game with 50k prestige.
Yeah, same here. It's just feels so weird. You have to unlearn a lot of habits to avoid misclicks.Nope, many players have similar problems (I'm one of them). You get somewhat used to it eventually, but I'm not sure I'll ever dare use true ironman.
